So, just a heads up for anyone who hasn't had red vines in a while, I have some bad news. I haven't had red vines in maybe 2-3 years. I bought some last night, and.....enshitification.

They are sooooooo thin now! They used to be girthy tubes. Like the size of straws. Now it's less of a vine, and more of a hollow slightly wobbly stick. Still tastes how I remember. But there's like half of what it used to be.

Would not have bought it if I knew how bad it got. Figured I'd save you guys some money for anyone who cares about this sort of thing. Which, given the community, I would assume would be the vast majority of you.

"In letteratura e, ancor più, nella vita, nutro il più grande rispetto per chi sa che bisogna essere nei luoghi dove pochi vogliono guardare...". Lo scrittore e critico Hans Tuzzi torna in libreria con "è scritto", e per l'occasione si racconta a tutto campo: "Tutto è politico. Vivere senza una chiara coscienza politica non è vivere, è vegetare. Ma

The Ford government says it is banning Chinese-made drones from being used in sensitive police investigations as the first step in a broader bid to remove them from the government supply chain altogether.

The move will affect every drone owned and operated by the Ontario Provincial Police, according to the government, which said they currently only use Chinese-made drones.

Still, Stephen Crawford, the minister of public and business service delivery and procurement, said the move was a vital step toward enhanced public safety.

“Now more than ever, it is critical that we are protecting our province’s data and safeguarding our security against bad actors,” he said in a statement.

...

“Banning government use and future purchases of Chinese-made drones is another important step in our plan to protect Ontario and better leverage Canada’s world-class drone manufacturing sector.”

The government said the impetus behind the change is rules that can compel companies incorporated in China to disclose their data, even if it was gathered or stored abroad.

Banning Chinese-made drones, the province said, would align it with the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP, among other Canadian organizations.

A Tennessee man who was jailed for 37 days over a Facebook post he shared after the killing of Charlie Kirk has agreed to a $835,000 settlement with the sheriff who detained him, his lawyers said on Wednesday.

The fatal shooting of Mr. Kirk, the conservative activist, last September set off an avalanche of social media commentary across the country. With it came firings, resignations and a debate about the boundaries of free speech. But Larry Bushart, the man arrested in Tennessee, was perhaps the only person charged with a felony after his posts about Mr. Kirk’s death.

In the posts, he shared memes that accused Mr. Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, of perpetrating hate and another that included past comments from President Trump about moving past a school shooting. The sheriff’s office in Perry County, Tenn., claimed that with those posts, he had threatened violence.

Conservative MP and parliamentary foreign affairs committee vice-chair, Michael Chong says China is attempting to “move the goal posts” by trying to prevent Canadian officials from visiting Taiwan.

Chong, who is also the Conservative foreign affairs critic, is in Taiwan this week to meet with Taiwanese officials, including Lai Ching-te, president of the Republic of China Taiwan. Several delegations of Canadian parliamentarians have travelled to the sovereign territory over the years.

...

Chong said his trip is meant both to show solidarity with Taiwan — which he said is facing threats from an authoritarian China — and to assert Canada’s sovereignty by demonstrating no foreign government, namely China, can dictate the travel of Canadian parliamentarians.

“For decades, Canadian MPs from both sides of the aisle have been visiting Taiwan as part of a broader pattern of enhancing two-way relations between Canada and Taiwan,” Chong said in an interview on CTV Power Play with Vassy Kapelos from Taiwan on Wednesday.

“They’re trying to move the goal posts by saying that that travel should no longer take place,” he also said. “My visit here is a declaration that it should take place, and that we can’t allow, as a democracy, an authoritarian state like Beijing to dictate our terms of engagement in the world community.”

...

And, asked whether he hesitated to take the trip given he and his family have been targeted by China in the past, Chong again said: “No.”

“I’ve got the privilege of being elected to high office, of being a member of Parliament in the Parliament of Canada, (and) that gives me the ability to be a voice for the voiceless,” Chong said. “There are countless citizens in democracies around the globe that are facing transnational repression, that are suffering in silence because of the threats coming from authoritarian states.”

Chong said he told the federal government about his plans to visit Taiwan and meet with its officials ahead of time and that they issued a statement of support.

From CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc.

Say hello to this cotton ball with legs!

This Eastern screech owl chick (patient 26-1685) was brought in after being found alone under a golf cart; we suspect it had fallen from a nest. As the days have gone by, the white down has been replaced by larger, fluffy grey feathers.

We're even starting to see a hint of the characteristic feather tufts - known as plumicorns - on top of the chick's head!

Weighing in at just 55 grams, this tiny patient is now being raised by CROW's team under standard orphan care protocols until it is old enough to return to the wild.

A few days ago, a document surfaced online. It was a leaked police memo outlining a joint operation between the Bolivian police and the United States military to capture former president Evo Morales and, according to multiple reports, massacre the villagers who stood in their way. The response from the Bolivian people was immediate and defiant. Indigenous rural communities surrounded Morales’ residence to protect him. Workers seized Chimoré airport near his home, blocking the runway to prevent American planes or helicopters from landing. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is a people fighting for their lives and the Western media is barely whispering about it.

So you don't want to port-forward on your home router or have Cloudflare decrypt all your traffic? Check out Towonel.

Most open source Cloudflare Tunnel alternatives involve setting up a VPS, terminating TLS there on a reverse proxy, then setting up a Wireguard tunnel to your server at home.

Towonel is different: it does not decrypt your traffic on the VPS and you can easily share one, so not every self-hoster has to buy and maintain a VPS.

Check it out!
