[US President Donald Trump] has repeatedly made it clear that he wants vehicles built in the United States, not in Canada, even if that means unraveling long standing trade agreements like CUSMA. To Trump, Canadian auto plants are not partners in an integrated supply chain. They are competitors siphoning away American manufacturing strength.

,,,

[China's Xi Jinping'] position is quieter but far more consequential.

China’s global auto strategy is not about Canada specifically. It is about scale, dominance, and dependency. Beijing has poured enormous state resources into turning its automakers into export juggernauts, not just in electric vehicles but across the entire automotive spectrum. The goal is not simply to sell cars abroad. China may not say it as it thinks like—like Trump—but Beijing’s ultimate goal is to reshape who builds them at all.

...

Trump’s approach is blunt force economics. Build here or lose access. His message to automakers is simple. If you want to sell to Americans, invest in American factories. Canada becomes collateral damage in a political argument framed as economic nationalism.

China’s approach is more strategic and arguably more dangerous. By flooding markets with low-cost vehicles backed by state support, it erodes domestic manufacturing ecosystems over time. Once factories close and supply chains weaken, rebuilding them becomes nearly impossible. Consumers may celebrate cheaper cars in the short term, but the long-term cost is industrial dependency.

...

That is where Trump and Xi converge, intentionally or not.

Both paths lead to a future where Canada builds fewer cars. One shifts production south. The other crowds it out entirely. In either case, Canada is left choosing between integration and irrelevance. This is not just an economic debate. It is about sovereignty, employment, and technological leadership.

More than vehicles of transportation, cars are now rolling computers, data collectors, and energy platforms. Losing the ability to build them means losing influence over critical infrastructure.

The question facing Canada, and by extension North America, is not whether Chinese cars are good or affordable. Many are. The real question is whether hollowing out domestic manufacturing is a price worth paying for cheaper sheet metal and software.

...

Trump says he wants the jobs. Xi wants the market. Neither wants Canada in the driver’s seat.

Ruben Gallego is calling for usians to conduct a general strike "if" the Trump admin interferes with elections more than usual (e.g. by sending ice to polls). I say the Democrats will not do anything about the election interference because a general strike takes material support, robust communities, and organization. This vague call for a strike does nothing to support any of those things. The democrats have not, historically, supported these things with anything but lip service. So, when a general strike does not appear from thin air next winter, the democrats will just throw their hands up in defeat, blame the citizens for not striking hard enough, and send donation request emails.

The internet has always been my salvation.

As a socially underdeveloped kid, I’d spend my lunch hours in the high school library on those public desktop computers, reading fandom sites about my favorite video games. Computers always made sense to me. I even owe my entire career to them.

But the internet today feels wrong. Whatever the fuck kind of psychological warfare is happening right now with this Epstein stuff is too much for my mind to handle. I can’t do it anymore.

I will love. I will vote. I will support my community and continue to oppose this fucking nightmarish system we all find ourselves in. But I need to sign off.

Imagine the door closing sound effect when logging out of AIM.

So I have some services and wireguard running locally on a "home" network. I also have wireguard, a DNS resolver, and a reverse proxy set up on a remote server. Since I don't want to expose the home IP to the public, to access my services I connect to the VPN on the remote, which then forwards my request home. But this means that when I'm at home, connecting to my local services requires going out to the remote. Is there some way to have the traffic go over the switch when at home, but go over wireguard when away, without having to manually switch the VPN on/off?

I could move the DNS resolver (which handles the internal names for the services) from the remote to the home server. But then similarly every DNS request will need to go through both the remote and home servers, doubling the hops. I'd like to use my own DNS server at all times though, both at and away from home. Which tradeoff seems better?

edit: thanks for all the suggestions, I'll look into some of these solutions and see what works best

A reminder that as the US continues to threaten countries around the world, fedposting is to be very much avoided (even with qualifiers like "in Minecraft") and comments containing it will be removed.

Image is of thousands of Cubans gathering in 2026 to honor José Martí.

After the Soviet Union fell, in the 1990s, Cuba entered a period (known as the Special Period) of extreme economic pressure, losing almost all of its international trade and fuel imports. Caloric intake almost halved, and electricity was mostly unavailable for much of the day. In response, Cuba undertook Option Zero, in which the country prioritized distributing resources to the most vulnerable, and rationed what little was available as fairly as possible. During this time, the threat of total collapse led to experiments and innovations, and, paradoxically to those on the outside, Cuba's population came together under pressure, rather than shattering. The collective understanding that their suffering resulted from abroad rather than from internal inefficiencies and corruption meant that Cuba's government, and thus their sovereignty, survived.

As the American Empire contracts in the wake of multipolarity and can now no longer tolerate sovereignty in the Western Hemisphere, we are seeing a return to the time of the Special Period, with the illegal blockade being dramatically worsened - among other measures, the US is preventing all fuel from entering the island, a strategy made more viable with Venezuela's fuel exports now restricted. Imperialist supporters are predicting an imminent collapse, after which American mining corporations would descend on Cuba's massive nickel and cobalt reserves.

While it's absolutely possible that this time Cuba's government could collapse, it's important to note four things: 1) as noted, Cuba has been in a situation like this before and survived; 2) the geopolitical situation is quite different to how it was in the 1990s, with China and other powers increasing in power and influence compared to the USSR's incompetent final leaders leaving the lane wide open to American exploitation; 3) there has been a concerted effort to transition to renewable energy sources recently, with solar panels being imported from China and making up an increasing amount of the energy supply; and 4) Cuba's government is taking this threat very seriously, and beginning rationing efforts immediately.

The Zionist Entity's Genocide of Palestine

If you have evidence of Zionist crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

Chatbots provided incorrect, conflicting medical advice, researchers found: “Despite all the hype, AI just isn't ready to take on the role of the physician.”

“In an extreme case, two users sent very similar messages describing symptoms of a subarachnoid hemorrhage but were given opposite advice,” the study’s authors wrote. “One user was told to lie down in a dark room, and the other user was given the correct recommendation to seek emergency care.”

As autonomous AI agents are increasingly deployed in high-stakes environments, ensuring their safety and alignment with human values has become a paramount concern. Current safety benchmarks primarily evaluate whether agents refuse explicitly harmful instructions or whether they can maintain procedural compliance in complex tasks. However, there is a lack of benchmarks designed to capture emergent forms of outcome-driven constraint violations, which arise when agents pursue goal optimization under strong performance incentives while deprioritizing ethical, legal, or safety constraints over multiple steps in realistic production settings. To address this gap, we introduce a new benchmark comprising 40 distinct scenarios. Each scenario presents a task that requires multi-step actions, and the agent's performance is tied to a specific Key Performance Indicator (KPI). Each scenario features Mandated (instruction-commanded) and Incentivized (KPI-pressure-driven) variations to distinguish between obedience and emergent misalignment. Across 12 state-of-the-art large language models, we observe outcome-driven constraint violations ranging from 1.3% to 71.4%, with 9 of the 12 evaluated models exhibiting misalignment rates between 30% and 50%. Strikingly, we find that superior reasoning capability does not inherently ensure safety; for instance, Gemini-3-Pro-Preview, one of the most capable models evaluated, exhibits the highest violation rate at 71.4%, frequently escalating to severe misconduct to satisfy KPIs. Furthermore, we observe significant "deliberative misalignment", where the models that power the agents recognize their actions as unethical during separate evaluation. These results emphasize the critical need for more realistic agentic-safety training before deployment to mitigate their risks in the real world.

Not sure if this has made international news, there were protests around Australia because our government invited the sick genocidal fuck Isaac Herzog here at the behest of the zionist lobby. I was at the Sydney one (where Herzog is currently) and it basically turned into a cop riot.

Within minutes of the rally’s official start time, the cops blocked all entrances to the square with railings and cordons of pigs - this rally was in a totally legal place to assemble.

Pig drone operators on a rooftop overlooking the crowd. There were also cop snipers in camo and masked up on the rooftops.

The usual story, peaceful protest, tens of thousands, kops kettle people, refuse to let them march, then start fucking on people. I know people who broke bones, almost everyone I know including myself got pepper sprayed, the fascist blackshirts went absolute hog wild (pun intended). There’s footage of elderly people being beaten, completely restrained protesters face down on the ground being punched in the head and kidneys dozens of times.

This is the crowd, which had spilled onto the surrounding streets and tram line due to thousands being stopped from entering the square, trying to leave the area. About 20 metres ahead of this was the pig cordon, stopping people from going anywhere.

Horses and foothogs charged the crowd many times, spraying and spraying their chemical weapons. 27 people were arrested, including a friend of mine, dozens at least must be injured. There was a young woman who was pepper sprayed and went into a seizure. I was lucky and only got it on my skin which burned for six hours. A comrade of mine copped it full in the face, he was blinded and burning long afterwards.

The crowd was full of young and old, which didn’t hinder the cop riot. As you can see behind the gentleman with the pram (who is attempting to make his way back away from the line of cops fucking up the frontline), there is an older man covering his mouth as pepper spray had already been deployed on protestors at the front a few metres away.

Even after the crowd fled to adjacent streets, clearly attempting to disperse, cops pursued them hundreds of metres and pepper sprayed and tackled them. I heard of tear gas cans being deployed in one of these side streets, but I didn’t see it with my own eyes or on any social media. The cops also had an LRAD they threatened to deploy, and had choppers flying overhead for hours before and after the rally.

Meanwhile, 5 minutes down the road, as the protestors were being brutalised by jackbooted rabid thugs, the state premier (like a governor) was wining and dining with a couple of thousand Zionists at an event put on for their distinguished guest. He has since come out this morning, alongside the police commissioner, and done classic DARVO gaslighting bullshit, blaming the protesters, “the cops were in danger”, “they tried their best to control the situation, but the crowd just wouldn’t listen” smol bean fucking routine, etc etc.

I’ll come back and edit more of my personal pics and links to stuff I see online for international comrades to see and share. Not much happens here in Australia and we don’t make the news much, but I want people to know hundreds of thousands of people get out in the streets here for Palestine, tens of thousands confronted the armed thugs of the state last night, and there’s another snap protest tonight in response to this brutality.

If by chance any Palestinians read this, we are with you. Free Palestine, fuck the pigs and death to Israel red-fist
