I hope this doesn't come across as bragging, but I'm really looking forward to my expanded roster of warframes 😄

Admittedly I didn't farm them myself, I just bought the blueprints from the market. Saryn I randomly got this week from the circuit as only warframe I didn't have yet. But my Helminth will finally get something to munch on at least.

Title is quite self-explanatory, reason I wonder is because every now and then I think to myself "maybe distro X is good, maybe I should try it at some point", but then I think a bit more and realise it kind of doesn't make a difference - the only thing I feel kinda matters is rolling vs non-rolling release patterns.

My guiding principles when choosing distro are that I run arch on my desktop because it's what I'm used to (and AUR is nice to have), and Debian on servers because some people said it's good and I the non-rolling release gives me peace of mind that I don't have to update very often. But I could switch both of these out and I really don't think it would make a difference at all.

I want all the money I put in to be refunded in nonsequential bills, and give it to me in one of those fancy metal briefcases please.

I found this article interesting. Here are some quotes:

Brexit’s backers sold the project as a magic bullet that would solve the problems caused by a globalizing economy — not unlike Mr. Trump’s claims that tariffs would be a boon to the public purse and a remedy for the inequities of global trade. In neither case, experts said, does such a panacea exist.

“The truth is, Brexit did not correct any of the problems caused by deindustrialization,” said Tony Travers, a professor of politics at the London School of Economics. “If anything, Brexit made them worse.”

Mr. Trump’s MAGA coalition has some of the same ideological fault lines as the Brexiteers, pitting economic nationalists like Stephen K. Bannon against globalists like Elon Musk. That has led analysts to wonder if post-Trump politics in the United States will look a lot like post-Brexit politics in Britain.

“Brexit caused profound damage to the Conservative Party,” Professor Travers said. “It has been rendered unelectable because it is riven by factions. Will the Republican Party be similarly factionalized after Trump?”

I'm gonna ask my Abuelo for a USB so I can run Etcher and Yunohost for my instance. I want to choose the name craigsworld.net (like how lemmy.world's creator chose lemmy.world). How does the site naming through Yunohost work? How much does it cost?

I just canceled my Amazon Prime membership, something I was almost afraid of. Phew, it's nice to have that off my back.

I've been shopping less and less at Amazon anyway and barely used prime video, so I'll probably won't even notice the difference.

So I’ve tried Mastodon, Pixelfed and didn’t like them. Mastodon is nice if you wanna ”tweet”, but that’s not for me. Pixelfed was dead.

I quit Meta because of tech bro fascism, and hated Twitter even before it was X because, let’s face it - nobody has ever changed their opinion on anything because of a Twitter conversation (I know I’m exaggerating, to get my point across). I was in Reddit for a few weeks, and the conversations there seem mostly friendly and constructive, but I decided I don’t want to have anything to do with social media corporations. Besides, I noticed I could scroll endlessly. And that’s not good for me.

Lemmy seems nice. There are still some topics I’m interested in that don’t have active communities, and I’m still learning on how to have my feed from multiple instances. But still, this is the way to go for me.

Against algorithms, against fascism, for free internet. Thanks for coming to my boring Ted talk and have a nice day.

Edit - I said "site" because I didn't know how to even describe whatever this is

I recently bought the family a new vehicle from an official dealer, needed for their contractor job and as a family car. The fucking sleazy salesperson used my contact information from the purchase to call me during dinnertime and try to sell me on this side hustle pyramid scheme FiNaNCiaL SeRviCeS seminar.

First of all, I just gave you a big-ass commission from buying this big-ass car with $10k of MarKeT AdJusTmeNtS. Then you have the audacity to use my PII from your job to insult my intelligence by trying to pyramid scheme me?

This got me thinking on the prevalence of the modern American "scam economy" and how it signals the ongoing collapse of the capitalist world. Not only are workers paid a penny for every dollar of profit their labor generates, they must take second jobs just to make ends meet (generating even more stolen profit) while being wrung out by seemingly endless scams.

Legalized online gambling, pyramid schemes, timeshare offers, payday loans, rent-to-own stores, endless side hustles, thrift store flipping, dropshipping tutorials, MLMs, bitcoin rugpulls, identity theft, US health insurance, TurboTax scams, student loans. I mean the list just goes on endlessly. Not to mention the "zombie economy" of simultaneous stagnant wages, increasing inflation, and decreasing quality of goods.

It's exhausting even while knowing exactly how these all work, I genuinely can't imagine how disappointing this must be for the average worker who can't even tell between a scam and a savior. Is ignorance bliss?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the topic - any relevant reading recommendations? Lived experiences? I am trying to find my footing with local PSL after a move, but my plan has always been to stay armed and hope my organization can fill the gap once the liberal "rule of law" fails. However, it does seem like imperial society is moving more towards technofeudalism enforced by advanced surveillance and extreme violence that will maintain that veneer of liberal rule of law thus preventing total collapse and wide-scale revolution.

Will the workers truly only wake up when the mass starvation starts? Can the miracle of the early CPC's struggle for survival be replicated in modern times?
