Brave has open-sourceed a new tool called "Cookiecrumbler," which uses large language models (LLMs) to detect cookie consent notices and then community-driven reviews to block those that won't break site functionality.

Copy Pasta from r*ddit: /u/ harakari:

https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/1k8lcq3/arcademania_mame_for_ios_is_available_on_the_app/

ArcadeMania is a port of MAME for iOS, emulates over 5000 arcade machines, but also much more, from video game consoles to computer systems to Game & Watches. As anyone familiar with MAME knows, It's a community driven effort over the past few decades with many contributors and is available for free on the App Store:

‎ArcadeMania

It supports MAME 0.276 (the current latest) and will continue to be updated to keep up with the MAME releases.

Some interesting tidbits about getting this into the App Store:

The app was constantly rejected for over a span of about a year.
The app was rejected as "spam" for much of that year, and was overturned after 2 appeals to App Store Review. They called me on the phone out of the blue to say they considered the appeal and deemed it as "not spam".
The app was then in a "we need more time to review" state for over 2 months.
I "vibe-coded" an NES ROM from scratch and included it in the app, just to have a demo that the App Store Review team can use without having them download a ROM. It was also in response to a review comment that said that the app can only run ROMs created by me. It was my first time developing for the NES/Famicom and it was a lot of fun!

With Patch 0.2.0f deployed, we're already planning the next wave of improvements we want to be making.

Our current plan is to try to get 0.2.0g ready as soon as we can. We are of course remaining flexible around this because of the Easter Holidays and ANZAC Day (A New Zealand public holiday) next week.

The main focus of 0.2.0g will be to address two highly sought after improvements as well as a flurry of other minor to moderate changes.

The first improvement is around Loot drops. The three main changes you can expect around this is to first mitigate unlucky streaks from bosses in the campaign by raising the floor of the quality of their drops. The second is to increase the quality of drops from bosses overall, and the third is to improve the drops from monsters possessed by Azmerian Wisps.

The second improvement is around Corrupted Nexuses. They can be difficult and time consuming to find and often players progress in waystone tiers much faster than they can complete the Nexuses. We will be reducing the number of Nexuses needed to be completed to attain all your Atlas Passive Points and improving visibility of them into the Fog on the Atlas Map.

On top of that we're also going to improve accessibility to Pinnacle content, reduce the difficulty of Simulacrums, and also increase the rewards and lower outlying difficulty spikes from Remnants in Expeditions.

These are just some of the changes we'll be working towards deploying over the next couple of weeks, we appreciate all of the feedback coming in and will keep an eye on it and keep addressing concerns as we can!

Thanks very much and we wish you all a happy Easter weekend.

Discovery was done via PS1 emulation, so this is tangentially related. Not much else to post right now.

With the Legacy of Phrecia event coming to an end on April 23rd PDT, and 3.26 still slated for a June release, we're creating free Private League templates to help fill the gap! Today's news post goes into more detail about what to expect!

Next week we'll add 15 Private League templates for PC that you'll be able to create for free with up to 20,000 players in each event. We are planning to have these templates available for a month, approximately until the end of May.

A private league template means you will not be able to add your own modifiers like you would normally be able to.

We've tried to ensure there is an event for every type of player! All of these events are based on Settlers league. For players who just want to try things out with nothing too complicated or dangerous we have:

  • Just Settlers - Pretty self explanatory, it's just Settlers league.
  • Idols - Atlas Passive Tree has been replaced with the Idol system from Legacy of Phrecia.
  • Alternate Ascendancies - All Ascendancies have been replaced with Alternate Ascendancies from the Legacy of Phrecia event.
  • Necro Settlers - Monsters in every area are affected by a pool of mods which you will be able to manipulate upon entering that area, these will rotate every hour!
  • Shifting Stones - In each area you will encounter a league mechanic that has been enhanced by a corresponding Atlas Keystone! These will change every 15 minutes.

For the thrillseekers out there, warning: Danger! We've taken each of the events above and turned the difficulty dial right up by including Gauntlet Boss Enhancements and some dangerous modifiers from the Gauntlet. These Gauntlet mods are from the most recent Gauntlet event, however we've toned down some of the modifiers for the Uber Bosses (Area Level 85+) so they're a bit more reasonable but still challenging:

  • From 50% Less Damage Taken to 25%
  • From 100% Increased Damage to 50%
  • From 40% Increased Attack, Cast and Movement Speed to 20%

We've also created some new events for those who want to use new mechanics with some old ones!

  • Affliction - Free wisps trapped in the Wildwood, doing so will empower monsters and improve their rewards!
  • Idols + Kalandra - Reflect upon your Idols; Influence the Lake of Kalandra in every zone and replace Path of Exile's Atlas Passive Tree with the Idols system!
  • Alternate Ascendancies + Sentinels - Explore alternative Ascendancy Classes while harnessing ancient Sentinels to control the risk and reward of combat.
  • Necro Settlers + Beyond - Noticing your use of the Lantern of Arimor, Beyond demons have begun invading!
  • Shifting Stones + Atlas Invasion - On top of each area having enhanced league mechanics, each area will also be invaded by Atlas Bosses.

We'll have another post next week that will include any extra information you might need, such as when these events will begin! Thanks to everyone who played Legacy of Phrecia!

"Here's the kind of fool I am: with a pretty commitment-free, relaxing-at-home weekend last Saturday and Sunday, I tucked in for hours of uninterrupted gaming by playing... Assassin's Creed Shadows. Not emulating some incredible classic game, or starting Blue Prince, or anything else I could've been playing. I just keep waiting for Shadows to get good, but honestly I'm pretty sure I'm mostly playing it because I bought a new graphics card a month or so ago and it looks really pretty. The world is stunning! And also kind of stunningly empty, full of people to kill but barely any story attached to the killing. Ubisoft should've made this world a quarter the size and four times denser in actual meaningful questing."
