I don't quite understand the criticism. It's not gonna be top of the line, but it's more than enough to replace my dying laptop from 2015 that I pretty much only ever use like a desktop anyway. And I can save myself the time and effort of picking parts, building, and dealing with shit not working as expected.

It's the first time in NBC News polling across five different violent incidents that there has been bipartisan agreement blaming extreme rhetoric from political and media figures.

More than 6 in 10 registered voters said they think “extreme political rhetoric” was an important contributor to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk earlier this year — including majorities of Democrats, Republicans and independents, according to the latest NBC News poll.

The findings represent a grim milestone in America’s reckoning with growing political violence and its root causes. The survey marks the first time, across questions about five different violent incidents over 15 years of NBC News polling, that there has been cross-partisan agreement that rhetoric played an important role in an attack, as opposed to the incident having been more about the actions of a single disturbed person.

Overall, 61% of respondents said they feel that “extreme political rhetoric used by some in the media and by political leaders was an important contributor” to Kirk’s killing.

A Cloudflare spokesperson told Ars that the cloud services provider saw “a spike in unusual traffic to one of Cloudflare’s services,” which “caused some traffic passing through Cloudflare’s network to experience errors.”

“We do not yet know the cause of the spike in unusual traffic,” the spokesperson said. “We are all hands on deck to make sure all traffic is served without errors. After that, we will turn our attention to investigating the cause of the unusual spike in traffic.”

New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said Monday that he reached out to the White House to arrange a meeting with Donald Trump, signaling a cooling of tensions between the two leaders after months of harsh rhetoric.

“My team reached out to the White House to fulfill a commitment I made to New Yorkers over the course of this campaign," Mamdani told reporters at a food pantry in the Bronx, adding that the proposed meeting was part of a pledge to voters to “address the affordability crisis that is pushing so many of them out of the city.”

"We are seeing his actions and that of his administration in Washington leading to the exact opposite effect for New Yorkers, and I will go to make the case to the president and to anyone, frankly, that these are the kinds of things we need to change if we want to make it easier for New Yorkers and for Americans to afford the day-to-day necessities of their life,” Mamdani said.

Instead YouTube gives me literally nothing but AI spam. :/

I scrolled down a bit more and got this: https://i.postimg.cc/fJcPhG45/Screenshot-20251118-150802.png

Scrolled down some more and this: https://i.postimg.cc/v1khnhRp/Screenshot-20251118-151325.png

I kept scrolling until I ran out of relevant results. Not a single video was legit. I don't think I've ever seen so much AI slop in one search term and by the gods there is a lot of crap on YouTube.

Anyone have a good comparison video? I'm just wanting a decent comparison of Actual, Firefly III and possibly HomeBank. Feel free to also give me your 2 cents on whatever you use :)

Officials admit ‘inadvertent removal’ after court ruled Britania Uriostegui Rios should not be sent to Mexico

The Trump administration is working to return another individual to the United States who was wrongfully deported to their home country in violation of a court order.

Officials acknowledged in a court filing last week that Britania Uriostegui Rios, a transgender woman, was "inadvertently" deported to Mexico in violation of a March court order which ruled that she was likely to face torture if she returned there.

The administration is working to bring Uriostegui Rios back to the US from Tijuana while it looks for an alternative country to deport her to. Uriostegui Rios is also suing to force the administration to release her from custody when she returns to the US.

The Alberta government has invoked the Charter’s notwithstanding clause to prevent court challenges to a trio of laws impacting transgender youth and adults.

The clause is part of a bill now before the house, and Premier Danielle Smith says the move is necessary to protect children’s health and well-being.

She says their health could be jeopardized if challenges to the laws are tied up in court for a long time.

The notwithstanding clause allows governments to override Charter rights if deemed necessary as a way to balance the authority of both politicians and the courts.

The clause relates to laws that put restrictions on student pronoun changes at school, on girls’ and women’s sports, and on medical therapies for young people looking to transition.

Two of those bills are facing court challenges on the grounds they are harmful and unconstitutional.

Federal judge instructed state to use older maps, with Republicans likely to appeal decision

New maps that added five Republican districts in Texas hit a legal roadblock on Tuesday, with a federal judge saying the state cannot use the 2025 maps because they are probably “racially gerrymandered”.

The decision is likely to be appealed, given the push for more Republican-friendly congressional maps nationwide and Donald Trump’s full-court press on his party to make them. Some states have followed suit, and some Democratic states have retaliated, pushing to add more blue seats to counteract Republicans.

A panel of three federal judges in Texas said in a decision that the state must use previously approved 2021 maps for next year’s midterms rather than the ones that kickstarted a wave of mid-decade redistricting. The plaintiffs, including the League of United Latin American Citizens, are “likely to prove at trial that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 map”, so the court approved a preliminary injunction to stop the map’s use for next year’s elections.
