Tom Homan, Donald Trump’s ‘border czar’, has responded to the murder of Renee Good in Minneapolis by an ICE thug. Not, as you might imagine if you haven’t been paying attention, with contrition and a promise of justice and corrective action. No, instead Homan bleats that people are being mean to ICE agents – and issues a chilling threat.

In the clip above Homan says:

If you want ICE out of your city, then stop being a sanctuary city.

This threat has been repeated in clips recorded by the public of numerous ICE agents demanding, “Haven’t you learned?” It has been repeated, even more explicitly, by the Israel lobby in Congress. In other words, resistance, even peaceful resistance, is punishable by death if we feel like it. No surprise then to learn that ICE’s training is imported from Israel:

As expected, Wine 11.0 stable was officially released today. This is a big step forward for this open-source software to run Windows games and applications on Linux and other platforms. Wine also serves as the basis for Valve's Steam Play (Proton) that has been critical to the recent successes of Linux gaming.

Wine 11.0 brings NTSYNC support when running on recent versions of the Linux kernel, the new WoW64 mode is stable, exclusive full-screen mode support, better Wine Wayland driver support, Vulkan improvements, and various other gaming enhancements like better joystick and gamepad support.

I don't know for sure, but if I have to make a guess, I would say Dash to Dock is a good candidate for that title.

Why do I say that? Because at the time of writing this article, this extension has more than ten million downloads.

What is Dash to Dock?

In the clean GNOME layout, you don't see any quick launcher. It's just the wallpaper. You press the Super key (Windows key), a launcher appears at the side or on the bottom. This launcher is called Dash in GNOME. The Dash to Dock extension takes the "dash" from GNOME Activities Overview and "docks" it to make it visible on the desktop all the time.

On the morning of January 7, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer killed Renee Nicole Macklin Good in the streets of Minneapolis. Renee Good was a Midwesterner. A wife, a mother of three, a queer woman, and a poet. The stuffed animals her child played with were in her glovebox, so many that it couldn’t be fully closed.

Renee’s vehicle was surrounded by ICE agents, and she was given conflicting commands by armed officers with guns trained on her. When she started to drive away, she was murdered. The violence of these officers is despicable, criminal, and indefensible. Since the widespread deployment of ICE across America last year in a reckless and xenophobic policy of terror against the working class, she is at least the fifth victim to die at the hands of these incompetent and violent agents of the state.

By the end of the day, thousands of Minnesotans had taken to the streets to demand that ICE leave and stop their tyrannical horror show. Central Indiana Democratic Socialists of America stands in solidarity with the targets of ICE’s brutality and grieves alongside the victims of this unfolding tragedy. We condemn this administration’s horrific abuse of all those in this nation, regardless of their citizenship status.

The members of Central Indiana Democratic Socialists of America mourn with the community of Minneapolis and demand that:

• ICE which terrorizes our neighborhoods and makes everyone, regardless of citizenship status, less safe, be abolished
• United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kirsti Noem be impeached, removed from office, and face criminal charges for the constitutional violations of this agency
• Murderous police and ICE officers be held legally accountable
• Police nationwide be de-funded and de-militarized

But in the face of the worst of circumstances, the best of humanity always appears. We refuse to lose hope for a finer world and will continue to demand it, provide mutual aid to those in need, comfort to those who suffer, and resistance to those who would harm humanity. Progress can and must come from those of us who will not forget and who will not bend to attempts to silence us. We may be broken-hearted today, but our spirits will not be shattered.

On 7 January, an agent of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot and killed Renee Nicole Good. One of the most disturbing things to happen since the killing is the creation of a fundraiser for the man responsible. As if that wasn’t bad enough, people have highlighted that the fundraiser weirdly drew attention to the Jewishness of the local mayor when describing him as a ‘traitor’:

ICE: cash for fash

Following the shooting of Good, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey spoke out in no uncertain terms:

He’s since announced plans to sue the Trump regime:

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe for killer Jonathan Ross has raised over half a million US dollars:

Analysis showed that Ross was to the side of the vehicle when he shot, and that Good was turning away from him. Even if he had needed to jump out of the way, enforcement agents are trained to not shoot at people in moving vehicles. In other words, Ross is an incompetent fucking idiot whose inability to do his job resulted in someone’s death. In other words, he’s exactly the sort of person who would win big in Trump’s America.

It’s not surprising that an ICE agent would be this incompetent, by the way. As we covered, the US is rushing recruits through the training process with minimal vetting. One veteran federal agent said:

we’re now employing people who are not equipped to tie their own shoelaces.

Back to Jonathan Ross, we’ve learned a lot about him since the killing. Ironically, for a man who’s black-bagging potential immigrants, he allegedly has a ‘mail order bride’:

People pointing to Jonathan Ross' time in the military are ignoring the fact it makes the whole scene WORSE, not better.

This man had proper training in the Use of Force Spectrum and Rules of Engagement. He had experience in actual war zones.

He knows what he did was murder.

Even if the GoFundMe comes down, it’s obviously not going to do much to stop what’s happening. At the same time, when a movement like this is on the ascent, people need to fight it on every front available to them, as many Americans thankfully are:

South Florida cops claimed they were “forced to fire” at a 32-year-old Black man named Donald Taylor in August because he was armed and would not follow commands.

But newly surfaced video contradicts those claims, showing the Black man walking away from cops with his hands raised to his sides showing no gun in his hand when a Hollywood police officer fired a single shot as Taylor had his back turned to the cops, killing him.
