So, now that I'm cutting again, I decided to dig through my rough and see what I could do with a piece of fire opal. The piece didn't have a lot of fire, but I wanted to have a go at it.

Overall everything went great, good solid cut, meet points and polish. Worked to take it off the dop an an unknown flaw clipped off one edge of the stone. 😱 😭

Needless to say that really pissed me off.

House of Commons calls on Keir Starmer to condemn Donald Trump’s ‘interference’ in European politics

The US is engaging in “extreme rightwing tropes” with echoes of the 1930s and threatening “chilling” interference in European democracies, British MPs warned ministers on Thursday.

The House of Commons rounded on Donald Trump’s national security strategy, which stated that Europe was facing “civilisational erasure” and vowed to help the continent “correct its current trajectory and promote patriotic European parties”.

Matt Western, a Labour MP and chair of parliament’s joint committee on the UK government’s national security strategy, said: “The United States consensus that has led the western world since the second world war appears shattered.

I talk about stuff like this all the time. I have a relative who is a paranoid schizophrenic and when he was young way back he talked about government listening device in the tv (honestly think he got it from 1984). When he was at his worst he was the nutjob homeless guy talking to himself (not totally sure he took off and we believe he was on the streets for a period). Anyway its just boggles my mind how the listening devices are corporate and we pay for the privelege of having them. Both an initial cost and monthly recurring ones (not so much me but the typical folks I know). Maybe its not surprising that people like my brother rather than being the weirdo in the 711 are now significant voices in society and government. Meanwhile I feel like myself and my kind are going to be the crazies talking to themselves on the streets (under breath - if due process is not followed for everyone then its followed by no one. federal agencies need to be independent of the executive with oversight by congress. judicial decisions should preferentially follow more recent precedence and the argument for it must always be written out)

I've been meaning to get an external backup for a few years but I've been kicking the can down the road in hopes of finding some kind of amazing deal on a huge drive but even the 4TB drives I set as my baseline seem to be getting more expensive.
