We've got one cat 6months and the other 3months old, currently both using the litterbox. However we're going to move to a new house soon, and eventually try to transition them to getting used to doing their business outdoors instead of the litterbox. Does anyone have any tips or best practices for this transition?

Edit: I dont live in the US, I live in Scandinavia - huge garden and away from traffic. The cats are fine being outside - most cats here are in fact outside. We have norwegian forest cats and they're meant to be both indoors and outdoors - even during winter!

first off, i live in a small apartment. bed, bath, kitchen, living. there's no great place to put it in the first place [it's in the bathroom rn]

every time i see it it feels like a chore. it gives me anxiety, it is a constant chore, endless, does not stop. it will never stop. i cannot finish the chore, ever.

^ and to that point -- if i were to scoop every day or even less frequently, it is disgusting 100% of the time, no matter what. touching it at all is disgusting, putting my face or body near it is disgusting, i don't want to see or interact with it in any way. every time i interact with it, it's a mental barrier to break down. no amount of cutesy names or molded plastic will make it not fucking disgusting.

none of the self cleaning ones really work properly, do they?

it's bad for the cats if you don't maintain it properly

i mean ok whatever. if this is the worst part of their lives, fine, they don't have to work or pay rent or worry.

I know this might be a controversial opinion, but I think it’s something that needs to be addressed in my area. It seems like people around here don't really care for their cats, and I wonder if some of the ones I see regularly might be part of a feral colony. I’ve seen over 10 different cats on my small property (not all at once), and recently, when the temperature dropped below -20°C (-4°F), I still saw them hiding under cars. One of the cats appeared to be only a few months old, which is heartbreaking. Another cat is missing its tail, and one has a missing ear. The area also has a lot of skunks and raccoons, which can be dangerous, so I’m concerned for their safety. If these cats have homes, they should definitely be in them. But I’m also worried that the city’s solution might be to just put them all down. What are your thoughts?

Update: I've done some research and found local groups monitor the feral cat population in the area. I am near a shelter (I didn't know that) so it's possible these are shelter cats. I'm just going to work with that shelter to see if thats the case. I have security cam footage of a few of them but not posting pictures for privacy reasons.

Also I'd love to bring them in but I only rent a room here. The owners should prefer I didn't do that so I need to honor that. However if the local shelter thinks it's ok I may set a heated cathouse in the back yard.

I'm not sure how common this is but our male cat, Sencha, likes to hump his favorite stuff animal (a dog) whenever both my husband and I are in bed. He is neutered.

Our bedroom is on the 2nd floor and he likes to get it on on the first floor. He will only "have sex" with the dog when he believe both of us are in bed (it doesn't matter if we are awake or not). Also when he has sex, he meows very loudly.

Tonight before I got in bed I noticed his dog was right besides our bed. I then got into bed. Within a minute, I heard little footsteps in our bedroom followed by noises near the staircase and then loud meowing downstairs. Due to a pet camera I was able to capture Sencha grabbing his dog before heading downstairs.

Here are some other pictures of Sencha with his dog.
