Beautiful.

Some great topics about the arts in long-form conversations. The specific episode linked is with Tom Hank's and begins with his earliest memories of music. Just thought I'd share since the podcast seems to be fairly new.

Cheers

I Just started watching The Leftovers this week, got to season 2 a few days ago. Something felt comfortingly familiar with the new theme song... Took me 3 episodes of the season for it to finally hit. Northern Exposure Finale. The Leftovers S2 Theme.

I know I just posted the studio version a few days ago but here's a live performance that just came out today.

Early In The Morning is a perfect album, front to back. Highly, highly recommended.

This is one of my favorite albums to trail run to. A genre best described as "horror disco."

DwtD pairs well with a nice Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, or Mega Drive.

This is the unassuming banger of an album, that chances are you never heard of. I'm not even sure how to classify it as a genre, because it's such an ever evolving sound through the whole album. All I can say is, give it a chance and be rewarded.

From the 2002 album Northern Light.

To be completely forthright, Voodoo U is probably my favorite LoA album. However, this is the one that started it all. The debaucherous debut.

Strap in, strap on.

Here's a peculiar project, from the man behind Skinny Puppy. I suspect this one won't be for everyone, but I thought I'd throw it up here.

SunnyPsyOp is also good, but I think this debut album is a little better.

Another WaxTrax! alumni. I think this album is their best.

Here's the music video for the full-length version of the opening song from the summer 2023 anime TV series Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds; this was released as a single last week (2023-07-05).

I've been on a pretty crazy journey in my life. I was a promising singer/songwriter from NY. I got to open for Maroon 5. Play at CBGBs. It was going well, and I was truly happy for the first time in my life.

Then my dad died. And I couldn't play music for almost a decade. Then, a few months after I decided to try again, I became severely disabled with CRPS, rending me a completely non functional human.

I wrote him this song the day after he died, at our family piano that now belongs to another family. It took 15 years to finish (and a very serious surgery where they had to put diodes on my spine and a battery inside my back), but I finally got to record a debut album. And I finished it for him. The song and the album.

Next week marks the 17th anniversary of him passing. I was thinking about him a lot tonight (he was a big fan of the MLB draft) and couldn't sleep. Figured maybe someone else was feeling that pain too.

May be my favorite early 90s industrial album. Their debut album "I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits" is also amazing.

I've just watched Yusuf/Cat Stevens at Glastonbury and impressed by how many people of all ages know the lyrics to songs he wrote half a century ago. Example: when he started singing Father and Son the crowd had joined in before he'd reached the end of the first word.

And the sight of tens of thousands of mostly white, middle-class fans joining in with a 74 year old Muslim grandad wasn't something I'd ever expected to see.

Dolly Parton, Britney Spears and Taylor Swift tribute acts were among protesters outside Meta's London HQ after having Facebook and Instagram profiles deleted because of rules banning people from impersonating others.

I give you one of my favorite experimental/prog rock albums of all times.

If you've never heard of the band, I highly encourage going down the rabbit hole into their mysterious and fleeting history. Wikipedia is a good start.

Additionally, quite literally all of their available albums are masterpieces IMO, so binge if you like this one.
