My little Pigeon :) (lemmy.world)

It's the older one of the two that grew up on my balcony. I haven't seen the younger one in a long time, this one i had not seen for two weeks (for which one i was on holidays).

Fed him some sunflower hearts. He is absolutely not scared of me and also not of my camera. When i tried to pet him, he picked at me and also hit me with a wing some time ago, haha. I don't think he'd do that if he was actually scared.

He then was sitting in the corner of the balcony where he used to sit with his little sister when they couldn't fly.

Mom and pops were just checking out my balcony again to find a place to nest, but i saw them do it yesterday already and upgraded the anti nestabiltity a bit. They left now, i don't think they found anything good today.

Pij sitting in its poopy corner ๐Ÿ˜†

Taken with a 50mm equivalent lens*, so pretty close shot. Not scared, i hope it's more scared around other humans.

*op photo too.

That's a bird loaf if I've ever seen one. Cute pigeon! I guess that answers my question from earlier under another post :>

Yeah, so it is my pigeon ;)

Actually i am happy to say that it is not my pigeon, the pij behaved kinda weird right after i had posted this, it was basically spending its whole day on my balcony and it worried me a bit. I then stopped feeding it from my hand because it started to creep me out, felt a bit too intimate or some parent relationship. I only laid out some seeds that would not completely feed it so it'll go and socialize with pigeons again, and it did. So glad it did. I think i'll see it again tomorrow as i'll work from home, looking forward to that.

Welcome to /c/birding, a community for people who like birds, birdwatching and birding in general! Feel free to post your birding photos or just photos of birds you found in general, but please follow the rules as outlined below.

  1. This should go without saying, but please be nice to one another. No petty insults, no bigotry, no harassment, hate speech, nothing of that sort! Depending on the severity, you'll either only get your comment removed and a warning or your comment will be removed and you will be banned from /c/birding.

  2. This is a community for posting content of birds, nothing else. Please keep the posts related to birding or birds in general.

  3. When posting photos or videos that you did not take, please always credit the original photographer! Link to the original post on social media as well, if there is one.

  4. Absolutely no AI-generated content is allowed! I know it has become quite difficult to tell whether or not something is AI-generated or not, but please make sure that whatever you post is not AI-generated. If it is, your post will be removed. If you continously post AI-generated content, you'll be banned from /c/birding (but it's obviously okay if you post AI-generated stuff once or twice without knowing you did so).

  5. Please provide rough information location, if possible. This is a more loosely-enforced rule, especially because it is sometimes not possible to provide a location. But if you post a photo you took yourself, please provide a rough location and date of the sighting.
