Well, I left it right till the last minute and am only now having a shower and dinner (because otherwise I would've felt like curling up in bed...)
But I have cleared out 90% of unused/expired things in my pantry!! and consolidated 70% of what remains (the rest I'll still need to use for a while). There was an embarrassing amount of nuts (esp almonds) I had to throw out :(
I've also cleared out random boxes in my car from months ago from when the new car stereo was installed. Recycling bin pretty full after all this.
Pretty satisfied with today's effort! This weekend's big cull is the clothes. I think I'm making decent progress. I seriously need to book a mover ahead of time tho, any recommendations?
Good work. ๐
it's a dreadful job but very necessary, I always feel so guilty at throwing out food, even when it's expired
Oh gosh it was utterly heartbreaking tossing out so many nuts. I just kept thinking back to my starving uni days where I would've cherished all that food and learnt to make so many things with it rather than let it go to waste. It's a good wake up call to keep my dry food purchases over the next few months to a minimum
The last time I moved I used Man with a Van - only it was two of them. No complaints, no damage to items. And some items had to be carried down a narrow & twisty staircase. I believe their charges are about industry standard.
Fantastic, they were who I was looking at. Between you and Spud that's a pretty solid recommendation. I don't want to spend too long paralysed between choosing different movers to save maybe $100
So long as you donโt get Lawrence. Not sure he still works there, but is a creepy fuck.
Jinx!
I like man with a van, personally. Used them when I moved from Epping to the CBD, and then again when I moved from the CBD to Brunswick. I like that I could put it on the website what I had to move, how big things were, and how many (chairs, drawers, etc). And at the time their rates were reasonable.
Yes I really do like their website! They seem reasonable to me and I just want to not have to think too much (esp with new place being up 3 flights of stairs). I'll probably just go with them but need to start consolidating which items I need their help with. Definitely fridge, couch, washing machine, tv stand, mattress, probably accommodate a few heavy boxes and the dismantled bed frame...
