Check out revanced!
I use revanced, very rarely have any issues with it. Looks and acts just like the official app, minus the ads plus the option for some other improvements like sponsorblock and re-enabling the dislike counter.
I've also been using Re-Vanced and NewPipe for a very long time, and seeing this comment section I wonder, why have they fallen out of (relative) popularity?
Not sure why development crapped out, but the Revanced guys are over working on Morphe now.
I'm surprised aswell. I thought it was pretty well-known, I certainly thought it would be recommended on lemmy of all places
