This is just... Oof... Feels like a monkey's paw situation that we finally got an adaptation and the animation is all over the place.

Another article where the execute producer says the production team was screwed over: https://www.cbr.com/uzumaki-producer-episode-2-quality-drop-reveal/

"It's fine, we knew this would happen," DeMarco said in a series of deleted posts. "I can't talk about what went down, but we were screwed over, and the options were A) not finish and air nothing and call it a loss, B) Just finish and air Episode 1 and leave it incomplete or C) run all four, warts and all.

Honestly, I’d rather that we only got the first episode as a pilot and wait for the promise of funding at a later date rather than present a half-assed follow-up.

Fan redrawn scenes might be a thing, considering how well known the base material is.

The first episode has scketchy animation as it is. The ideas are what made it watchable. How do you spend four years on a four episode series, and not even get episode two finished?

Are you familiar with the concept of ‘no money’?

[-] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Very intimately familiar with it yes.
I'm also not spending years on a project that's going to air and not even completing half of it.

From the sound of it, it seems like it was a mix of it switching studios, no money to make it a priority when the studio could instead work on something that made them money, and covid basically forcing their hand into NEEDing money even more-so.

No time for real art when you need food and shelter for your family. No energy to push yourself even harder when life is crumbling around you (even moreso in japan given the shit work conditions of animators)

Sounds like you knew the team personally. Otherwise why would just make things up you don't actually know about?

I don't understand why youre being so standoffish when all of the info is available directly from the workers themselves and the director of both studios that worked on this. (And sure i guess they could be lying, but come on)

I hope your day gets better and youre able to find a show to enjoy.

Ah that's disappointing. Episode 1 had me looking for similar content.
