San Jose checking in
What up SJ?
Hello! Migrating from Reddit, getting my sealegs, happy to see this community has activity
Welcome! It’s different, for sure…But excited for what we can all make of this community (and Lemmy, of course!).
Hello world! My first post ever on Lemmy. Was hoping to see a bay area community here and looks like this is something at least. Now to hope it grows :)
Gratz on the first ever post! Hoping it continues to grow too.
Reddit had separate bayarea and sanfrancisco subreddits, where most of the posts about San Francisco specifically would go to the sanfrancisco subreddit rather than the bayarea one. Should we do the same thing here?
I’m open! Whatever folks prefer. This community is in early stages, so we’re flex.
It wasn’t just San Francisco that had a subreddit. Most of the cities did. I spent a lot of time in the Oakland and Santa Rosa subs.
Doing my part to add to the growth. Hello all!
Hello! And welcome!
New to Lemmy and new to the Bay Area as of a month ago. Glad to find a community getting started here!
Welcome to the Bay! Hope you’re liking it so far.
Lesgoooo!! RWC here!
What’s up?! Welcome!
I wonder what the vibe for this sub will evolve into. I feel like r/bayarea often felt like a crabby person on Nextdoor. People fixated on negative stuff and not the cool things that are all around us.
Would love to see more awesome content about our area that highlights cool shit. That being said, while I don’t care for fixating, I don’t mind honest posts.
I'd like to see events, meetups, news articles. I like pot lucks.
I like pot lucks too. I can’t cook, but I know hella tasty spots to buy from
I’m excited to see how “POV pushers” vs mod censorship works out. One of the big problems I saw on reddit, ( especially /r/Oakland) was outsiders pushing a negative POV and mods reacting by censoring all posts with the same POV.
I don’t want the place overrun by Texas MAGAs, but when local crime posts are censored because it pushes a POV the mod doesn’t like, it destroys trust in the entire sub.
