worth noting: this is the most popular late night show. paramount is making sure it's clear this is not about the money, this is about getting in alignment with the fascist overlord. what the people want be damned. so fuck paramount. fuck cbs, fuck every single thing on their platforms. if there's some legacy media made by paramount steal it now before they try to delete it. if you love star trek, in particular, now's the time to lift it

CBS is state-run media, got it.

Bunch of fucking cowards.

I'm actually in favor of this. Colbert was wasted on that show, he has so much better work ahead of him.

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I wouldn't say he's wasted, but I do agree he has better work ahead of him.

You can look at Jon Oliver who carved out a pretty solid gig for himself. He got lucky that Stewart needed a little time to explore and he got to jump in as guest host. Next thing you know he's scoring yearly Emmy wins.

I don't know what Colbert might get up to next, but do agree it'll be worth watching.

I just know so much of his other work and got so board of the CBS gig. Fuck it let's reboot strangers with candy!

It should have been his decision though, but yes if he's free ( and Jon Stewart) we could have some amazing content

His greatest role was Mentok the Mindtaker

Mentok is great no doubt. I also always enjoy his work in Harvey Birdman as Myron Reducto Esquire and

Hs ha! More billable hours!

That was John Michael Higgins best role

Apparently the B in CBS stand for Bootlickers. I don't care if you think this is good for Colbert. It's bad overall. I wonder how long Kimmel will last on ABC.

Subscription cancelled. Paramount+ never had much content I liked and this was just what I needed to get rid of them. Yes, they prompt you for why you want to cancel, and if you choose 'Other', you can explain that your reason is that with 60 minutes and now Colbert, they are acceding to a fascist bent on stripping the U.S. of everything that made it good: education, research, rule of law, and so on -- and why? For the love of money rather than any interest in their customers' welfare.

Anyone willing to bet this wasn't a secret verbal clause agreed-to in order to greenlight the Paramount merger? 'Kill that show that makes fun of me, or no deal', said the fascist orange rapist and his goons.

Thanks Trump! (said the person who never watched a single episode of 'The Late Show')

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

theyre not even just firing him, theyre shutting down the whole show, bizarre

[–] hal_5700X@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good. The Colbert Report died for this shit.

[–] Zexks@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Kind of. He also stated he didn't like doing it because the people that he was supposed to be making fun of (hoping they would catch on and stop being stupid) never got it and just tried to emulate him harder. His shtick was having the opposite effect he was hoping for.

My second boyfriend was one of these fucking idiots who legit thought Colbert Report was not a fucking character. It drove me up a wall as I could show him reams of stuff he said not on the Report and he said no, 'those' were the act.
