I'm currently spending a lot of time playing my human female Chrono, who I tried to model after the look of the GW1 mesmer.
I always try to think what would be appropriate for my female brawler thief (dd), Specter set is more… shadowy thingy
As friendly as rp-ers you may bump on in least expected places who happen to play doctor and patient thing 🫠
I'd say I go for mostly lore friendly, but with a touch of glowing bits. Pink mesmers sound completely right, though.

I admire people who can escape profession leading color in customization of their characters
I wish we could have a color channel for effects.
I get it that it's a visual tell that helps with gameplay and all that, but let me make a mesmer with green effects instead of pink! A guardian that glows yellow instead of blue, etc.
My characters look somewhere between 1 (Lore-Friendly) and 2 (The Human Female Meta). I like them to look good and I don't mind a bit of a shnininess either, but everthing in moderation. Just like in real life.
Alsso, Female Norn look far better than Female Human characters. And Male Charr look awesome, too. I even managed to make my Asura and Sylvari characters look really nice.
