Boost has been my favorite app for a while now.

Fuck spez.

[-] odama626@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Same, boost was the only way to enjoy reddit

[-] Sir_Simon_Spamalot@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Damn. As a Boost user, this hits hard.

The only reddit app I used for the last 5 years, if not more. This is actually sad. Fuck Spez.

[-] LukaDoncic@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Apollo is basically the only app I use on my phone. The mismanagement of this situation by spez and crew was so bad you can almost laugh at it

Damn, this is sad. As a happy Boost user for five years, this pretty much signifies my exit of Reddit as well.

I'm just glad that Lemmy app development is well under way. Hopefully one of them will eventually reach Boost's high standards of UX.

So far wefwef.app is pretty damn good... Still not boost though

[-] aleph@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

It's pretty slick, but too iOS-ified for my liking.

The closest to Boost so far in terms of UI is Jerboa, IMO.

[-] odama626@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah I agree, now the jerboa is working again I've switched back

Thunder is also heading in the right direction, give it a try

[-] aleph@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Yep, Thunder is currently #2 on my list.

It's got some swipe actions (I'm generally not a fan of those) that can't be disabled, but I'm keeping my eye on it.

Boost was my app of choice, I'm going to miss the customization of the interface and the filters. I used he filters so much since r/all was garbage without them. It would be nice if it gets ported to Lemmy in the future.

I never used Boost (I used a "rival" 3rd party app), but I feel bad for people who put the time and effort into building these great apps, just to have to shut them down. Spez really screwed the pooch on this one.

How to make a grown man cry

[-] herrwoland@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Goodbye old friend, you were my comfort for years. You will always shine in my memories :(

[-] circuitfarmer 3 points 1 year ago

Massive respect for these devs. Fuck reddit and the shitshow they have become.

[-] arcadefx1@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Out of habit I launched Apollo on my phone and felt bad about what is happening.

I’ve migrated to Lemmy and thanks to Memmy (iOS app) I am enjoying the fediverse. It reminds me so much of Apollo. It’s a beta and only available using TestFlight.

I need to go buy some wallpapers from the Apollo app and use the tip jar to say thanks to the Dev.

[-] Sneckster@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It's definitely the end of an era for me.

Really hoping lemmy can keep slowly growing and stays active

[-] FabulousCable3945@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I just tested it out for one last time, due to haven't use the new update yet.

I'm gonna miss this app

[-] Sanctus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

RIP to the best parts of reddit

[-] Sureredit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I used Bacon Reader for Reddit since it came out. The author posted a similar goodbye message. I bought a weather app that I'll never use that they also work on as a last thank you.

At least I'll probably start to be a little more productive, maybe, possibly? (Who am I trying to kid?)

Thank you.

I've been using Boost for a few years now, I'll be sure to use it for Lemmy too.
