This is so much better than mealy mouthed passive voice and whatnot. A guy in an actual rubber mask for propaganda. It's so satisfying to not have to fuck around with debunking or applying analysis. It's just... It's a dude in a rubber mask! You don't have to argue about anything a dude in a rubber mask says! It can just be rejected without consideration! And if someone tries to argue for the dude in the rubber mask, you can laugh at them! Please, good lord, send me someone who agrees with the master of disguise over here, please I must laugh heartily in their face.

It's distilled American journalism. I can't think of a single dystopian parody of the media which used a guy in a mask and pretended he was a different guy. It would be too stupid to write.

Its a shadow though. We don't need alex jones level conspiracy theories to know fox is propaganda

These masks get weirder and weirder

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I misread this as "a Scooby-Doo mask" and thought you meant they'd come up with a more interesting way to obscure a confidential source's identity

Alas:/

Really? I can't see it.

[–] DogThatWentGorp@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

Oh my god did they just not see the like- neck part dangling down there before they sent him out?

What was the point of this anyways? That's bizarre.

[–] LENINSGHOSTFACEKILLA@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is very clearly a shadow from a light.

I've been in tv for more than a decade. worked in news for 5. I teach at a college on live production lighting, cinematic lighting, and film production.

This is a shadow. From a light.

[–] liberateanimals5@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And others have said this also. But most of our eyes are not seeing this. Can you elaborate? Have there been other examples of this? It looks so much like a freakin mask.....

They're blasting light from below onto his neck and its hitting the collar, creating a shadow.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

And he would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling kids

[–] Formerlyfarman@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

At first I thought it was weird that they would get a customed character, when you can grab any removed of the streets and calim him an expert and your tv audiences will buy it.

But apparently the guy was wearing a mask of himself, if so, I totally get that, if I had the money I would do that.

[–] volcel_olive_oil@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago

hilariously brazen

what's even better is it's a mask of a real guy! you could have interviewed the real guy! maybe he was unavailable so they faked him in order to not go "off script"?

I wonder if it's the fox news antifa guy in a high quality mask

Definitely something hinky going on here, but my money is on poorly-masked AI deepfake. Harward is a real guy with internet presence, image search him and compare. There's something about the movement, and especially the mouth that's just a little uncanny. Teeth don't seem right to me.

[–] Posadas@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The only explanation I can think of is that Fox accidentally used one of those ai face filters that make your skin look smooth.

Sounds like something they'd do for their aging hosts and just forgot to turn off.

Its just really bad lighting. Have you seen other videos of this guy? He has a weirdly wrinkly neck. The blasted a fuckload of light from below up to his face to hide it, creating this weird shadow from the collar. Its very simple

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

He has a weirdly wrinkly neck.

It's called nussy.

[–] jodanlime@midwest.social 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Look at the neck of the video, there's a distinct line in the center and the right side is also bulging out in a weird way. Maybe some sort of green screen mask that they can deep fake on top of, but there's at least something around his neck.

[–] EdlritchEconomics@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

Yeah that neck is another thing that screams AI to me. You can see the tendons below and above the line move at the same time while being totally disconnected. The guy is also pretty much dead still while talking, most people move their head at least a little.

[–] Posadas@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They're getting so lazy they didn't even use colored contacts.

The real guys eyes are blue, not brown.

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I wonder if it's the same guy

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's Comadore Anti Pha Alpha Mu and he's just back from his pledge drive!

[–] EdlritchEconomics@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I agree that they look brown at the start of the video, but later on they seem pretty clearly blue to me. So it's either a trick of the light (however that happens in a studio setting?), or somebody noticed and fixed it at some point. Somebody better at video please feel free to correct me.

I started cackling like the joker when I saw it

Shit is so unsettling

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You grew the bean in a plastic cup, the bean never betrayed you, the bean wasn't a cop.

Maybe they do this a lot and trump is just a guy in a mask so he can just keep being replaced and the magats will keep supporting their god king no matter what
