Weird to see a minor rave culture fad return after all this time.

[–] HeHoXa@lemmy.zip 10 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Just suck a cock.

Guaranteed productivity boost, and company loyalty would skyrocket.

[–] aguasemgas@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 3 hours ago

Or tits, heck even a pussy. Or i dunno... A fucking lolipop (-_-)

[–] Athena5898@lemmy.ml 11 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Eh, I honestly wouldnt care if I saw this in public. As long as something someone does isn't a pain to others, non of my business.

[–] Leviathan@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

I would assume they're rolling or really like to rave.

I'm not picky, most any body part will be fine for my oral fixation. Tits certainly a favorite tho

Cigarette companies losing profits?

Let people have a relatively less problematic stress relief than cancer risk increasing smoke, right?
Tho, not sure about micro plastic content n all.

[–] Lowleekun@hexbear.net 6 points 20 hours ago

I think doing it a lot can damage your teeth as well. But yeah, better than smoking. Not sure it satisfies nicotine addiction tho...

Liquirice roots are a better option in my opinion, but if it works for them I have no problem.

why anyone would smoke cigarettes when weed exists is beyond me but ok.

why anyone would smoke is beyond me but ok.

[–] woodenghost@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Because cigarettes are addictive? People start in a weak moment and fail to stop. It's not a rational decision.

[–] Athena5898@lemmy.ml 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

To add to this, if you are not carful around people who smoke both, you can get a big hit of nicotine

[–] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

To add more to this: Retail and food service both heavily encourage people to start smoking. Managers give extra breaks to smokers, because the managers all take extra breaks to smoke and “it’s only fair, right?” So the employees start smoking to get the extra breaks. Because nobody wants to be the only server on the floor during the peak Sunday post-church lunch rush, getting screamed at by geriatric cunts about their food taking too long, when every single one of your coworkers is outside the back door showing each other memes while puffing on Marlboro reds.

And so those employees start smoking to get the extra breaks. And then those employees become the managers a year or two later, and continue to only give extra breaks to smokers. Because “well I had to start smoking to get the extra breaks, so they can start smoking if they want the extra breaks too.” And the cycle repeats ad infinitum.

And a lot of people work retail and food service when they’re in their late teens/early 20’s. Which means a lot of them start smoking early, and then struggle to quit as adults because they’ve smoked for basically their entire adult life.

Weed turns me into a lazy paranoid dumbass. Sometimes I just want to smoke something and not feel like that.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

cigarettes are horrible though, have you tried that hot new trend of using pacifiers?

[–] gary_host_laptop@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 day ago

im using nicotine pacifiers rn, thanks for the suggestion!

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 9 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (1 children)

Can't say I agree. I haven't smoked regularly now for almost a year, but occasionally just buy a single if I've had a beer and have a craving. That's the nice thing about Latin America, you can buy single cigarettes. I smoke one, feel guilty, and then don't think about them for a month or so.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 4 points 21 hours ago

friend of mine got hooked exactly like this, on and off.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 7 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

Different receptors. Also, cigarettes are way more addictive.

Edit: Did I get pushback for stating that cigarettes are highly addictive?

why anyone would use art for stress relief when bottling up your feelings and disassociating exists is beyond me but ok.

Why would anyone bother bottling up their feelings when refusing to acknowledge the existence of feelings exists is beyond me, but ok.

I prefer sucking on tits

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

Or you could just chew gum, that's always an option

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 3 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Both are plastics. No difference.

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

There is a difference, one is socially acceptable

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

Sadly. Both cause damage.

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 4 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Isn't gum really bad for the environment? Like the rubber part decomposes but the plastic part just doesn't? Not saying pacifiers aren't plastic and rubber, but they're reusable at least

[–] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 2 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (4 children)

Where did you get the idea that chewing gum is made out of rubber and plastic? 🤔

Edit: Thanks all, I had no idea!

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 10 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Everything is made from rubber and plastic now. Bread? Plastic. Meat? Rubber. Vegetables? Plastic. Milk? Rubber. Chewing gum looks like rubber, but is actually plastic.

[–] TiredTiger@lemmy.ml 7 points 22 hours ago

It is plastic, though. The exact formulas tend to be proprietary, but they use a plastic rather than a natural gum base unless explicitly stated otherwise on the packaging. Even a lot of the 'natural' brands still use a plastic base.

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 5 points 21 hours ago

A podcast years ago. A cursory search confirms that modern chewing gum has a "gum base" that contains food safe plastic polymer. Old school ones are made from gum from trees, but that hasn't been economically viable for like a century.

Most of it will decompose but other parts either gets buried in a landfill or gets burned where the smoke goes into the sky and turns into stars.

I'm getting really tired of this kind of doomerism. Look, just because a tariff-loving, bigoted republican president is inflating securities markets wildly beyond their historical maximum book values by orders of magnitude in the context of sharply rising unemployment and homelessness, doesn't mean we're revisiting 1930s economic conditions. So I don't want to hear anymore about removed-environmental-protections this, and exponentially-increasing-environmental-disasters that. Just nut up, ignore the once-in-a generation, escalating geopolitical tensions, and go persecute some minorities just like Jesus Washington said to do in the Bible Constitution.
