I switched from Zen back to Firefox because of bugs and forced features like window sync which many users including myself don't want. I really miss having the entire UI on the side, I really don't care about Zen's other features.

you can easily turn window sync off. if it's not in the regular settings go to about:config and search window or sync and it will show up.

You can customize the Firefox CSS, there are a lot of themes here.

Edit: I think the fennec theme is what you're after

Heads up you can turn off zen's window sync in the tab management settings

I've had zero bugs from Zen and what do u mean by window sync?

They made a dumb new feature and rolled it out without thinking of how users would respond. Essentially it syncs all of the same tabs to multiple browser instances. It can't be turned off, but it's stupid that it was released in the first place.

Huh so if u have 2 instances of Zen open it syncs tabs between them? I don't really have that problem cos I have everything pretty well isolated in different qubes so I don't ever need multiple instances on the same machine
