Pretty fitting that the US democrats main focus candidate right now is a former Abu Ghraib torture camp prison guard, who repeatedly says he signed up for the US military because he wanted to kill people.

these people are starting to call thselves "the left". "the left" is anti zionist and will always be.

no really, don't allow this shit.

I just got banned from lemmy.world/c/progressivepolitics for criticizing Platner.

Anything to the left of a Nazi is "ultra-left" apparently.

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 26 points 6 days ago

These people are so desperate for any excuse to vote (D) it's pathetic

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

Yep get downvoted anytime I question this guy. Same with the billionaire running for governor in California.

They've been inapropriately calling themselves "The Left" for decades.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 10 points 4 days ago

The left of maybe Heinrich Himmler, but seeing as they support guy who have tattooed the same symbol that Heinrich Himmler went genocidally infamous under, i doubt even that.

[–] deathmetaldawgy@lemmy.ml 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Left also should not accept current or previous military members unless they are openly anti US military and imperialism pretty much every single sentence they speak publicly.

Not at all, whatsoever with absolutely no exceptions other than listed. Those guys and gals get up to some bad shit, and they’re usually one (or less) person removed from (fascist) government officials

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

for sure. the indoctrination goes hard in the military, police forces and similar institutions.

people i know who went through these never go back to having sound critical thought and they stay a bit aggressive forever.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 4 days ago

Total institutionalization. Total institutes break down the ego to rebuild it into whatever the institute wants it to be. It's extremely difficult to regain a sense of self completely free of the institute, past a certain amount of conditioning. This is anything from the current El Salvadoran CECOT, to rehabilitation facilities to skilled nursing facilities to reeducation facilities to monastsries and boarding schools.

Partly due to the Overton window, partly due to their inability to confront their own complicity, I think. They don't want to be responsible for anything - they just want to vote blue and pat themselves on the back.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I heard him speak the other day. I don’t think I’ve seen a more blatant CIA cutout

[–] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 17 points 5 days ago (3 children)

I have this pet theory that some billionaires made a bet on how many "values" they could have a "leftist" dem voter betray in with one vote. Dude's got everything from nazi tattoo to Iraqi war crimes to zionism and infidelity (free space for any US politican tbf).

There was this comment chain under a comment moaning about "purity testing" on the left where I said

The people on lemmy complaining about purity tests are typically the ones to rally to the defense of a US marine and Blackwater merc with 4 tours in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan and a tattoo of the SS skull because he is running as a democrat.

and the guy didn't know about Platner and thought I was just making something up and dismissed me as "just another .ml tankie". When I linked them they immediately went with

Okay, so upon reading through the full story and also the comments. It really just seems like he has a skull and bones tattoo that vaguely resembles one used by a nazi division, that doesn’t appear to be very mainstream, even among neo Nazis. And since there’s not any other evidence pointing to him being a Nazi I think the most likely explanation is he got a tattoo he thought looked cool, like he said.

shame the post got deleted so I can't link the chain it was pretty funny

Like, OK, I’ll give him that then, but why…hasn’t he removed it after learning about it?

Do their brains just stop working after they arrive at this logic?

The SS Totenkopf was used the insignia of the SS deaths head units, the units that staffed the concentration camps. Every concentration guard had that exact totenkopf on their uniform in multiple places. Heinrich Himmler's own fucking cap didn't have SS bolts but the Totenkopf. It's such a prominent SS symbol there was a tv sketch about this exact skull called "are we the baddies" that is now a pretty well-known meme.

"P-hustle" was also frequenting military history subs and even commented under a photo featuring the Totenkopf (albeit not prominently but in a comment chain pointing it out) https://undelete.pullpush.io/r/CombatFootage/comments/auy0bi/_/ehbh3n6/?context=4

I do not believe he didn't know. This guy also came to the defense of people getting the SS bolts tattood. He got a covering tattoo when it became a political liability and not a second sooner.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago

It’s honestly really bizarre, or just classic democrat shit.

hahaha the COPE

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 4 days ago

I saw it. It was funny in a decent into madness way.

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

so is platner going to walk back what he's said about israel like mamdani did or does he understand you can just lie?

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 22 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

Besides being a mass murderer of brown people Platner was also cheating on his wife. Truly a reliable guy who will keep his word.

[–] deathmetaldawgy@lemmy.ml 14 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Libs will be like “wow you really want Susan Collins to win don’t you” (I have no idea who Susan Collins is)

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 6 points 5 days ago (2 children)

i could not care less about infidelity in the context of american politics.

[–] deathmetaldawgy@lemmy.ml 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I care about him being a fascist US military cuck, loves it, brags about killing brown people for fun and adventure, and having a Nazi tattoo for like 20 years. I think he’s a bad guy with a faux leftist coat of paint.

yup. sexting on top of all that is nothing. it's even adult women not the pedo cabal and i'm supposed to care that the blackwater guy stepped out on his wife? the clinton blowjob scandal is old enough to rent a car

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Infidelity says something about trustworthiness. And liars.

[–] Calfpupa@lemmy.ml 7 points 5 days ago (2 children)

It mostly says something about the material conditions of a person that is within a society that forces monogamy which severely punishes those that aren't.
