Not that I wish to argue this is not a proposerously large car or anything, but that is a very compact tank.

This comparison can be made with almost any car. The Smart Fortwo is also longer than a tank, technically. (when pitted against a T-27)

When you need to invade Poland at three but pick up the kids from pottery class at five.

[–] CMDR_Horn@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

From Berlin to Warsaw in one tank.

And by some miracle, I wouldn't be surprised if the Panzer II felt more spacious inside. It's baffling how cramped modern SUVs and especially crossovers are compared to their external size.

Our relatively small VW ID.3 is more spacious inside than most small-to-mid crossovers in Europe (e.g. Renault Kadjar/Nissan Qashqai, Volvo XC40 etc.). It's still a lot smaller in external dimensions, and actually fits to parking spots.

So the BMW is a bigger target and far less armoured? Why would you ever drive the BMW!

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ok, now imagine it with little flags on the corners of the hood

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 days ago

Which one are we talking about again? I can imagine both with that flag at this point...

Guess you haven't noticed how expensive fuel has gotten

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

Well I walk and cycle, so no I really haven't noticed. But also I live in the UK so it actually hasn't changed that much.

Well to be fair the X7 can seat 7 passengers while the Pz. II has only 3 seats.

[–] ea6927d8@lemmy.ml 39 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

So, on average, the tank carries more people.

[–] treeofnik@discuss.online 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

X7 = 1.35 people/meter, tank = 0.62 people/meter

[–] Humanius@lemmy.world 47 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

But the X7 will on average carry one

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Persons carried on average has to be >1.0. Might be less then 1.5 which would make your statement true after rounding down but it cannot be 1 unless there are a lot of drivers that miss a leg or an arm and you are a biggot who sees them as less than 1 person.

[–] notabot@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're quite correct if the average we're using is the mean, but the mode is also a way of expressing an average, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was 1 for the BMW.

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Definitely true, the mode is much more likely 1 than 2-7 for sure.

[–] ji59@hilariouschaos.com 1 points 2 days ago

Oh yeah? But the tank has 0.201 more cannons per meter that the car. In other words, infinitelly more, infinitelly better.

[–] Siegfried@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

3 seats inside, 4 can sit on the back for transportation.

Well, once they are full rammed into my tight little chasis 30cm vs 37 cm doesnt feel that different

[–] wltr@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Did you mean to do math better, or did you mean to state the size of the BMW owner?

[–] wltr@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Ah. Sorry everyone. The math is wrong! (It’s getting into the night here.)

It’s the BMW that is longer, not the tank. So that’s not the size to compensate. Unless …

That’s the length of the average bmw driver’s dick.

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A 2012 Camry is longer than the tank too. So what? Weird metric to try to get a point across.

[–] CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And neither have a turret mounted gun. So disappointing.

I wonder which has killed more people though...?

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Pfft go back to the 1980s you can get a woody that was 5.48m long. (I.e. Ford LTD Crown Victoria Country Squire).

[–] Junkers_Klunker@feddit.dk 2 points 2 days ago

The 80s and 90s had the coolest wagons

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago

Before it even moves the front end has already reached the destination.
