Do you think they specifically bring in peafowl to zoos or do they just show up once you get zoo certified?

Saw one in a Walmart once. The area was being developed on what was farmland before, and an old peacock farmer had died and basically the property was abandoned and peacocks just roamed free.
It was let in by the automatic doors and just strutting around like it was a typical day.
I still don't get why we named them pee cocks
