Feelings on the topic should allow for nuance and shades of grey, not everything is black and white. Im in OPs camp... Dont celebrate the death of any human, and the amount of damage to peoples lives the company this guy helmed does is unfathomable. You are allowed to hold both opinions.

Sure is a good thing that florida doesn't have forest fires... RIGHT?

2 cents on this, DOTA 2 is a much more complex game, with almost the exact same soft skills. I hang out in DOTA more ofter, but every year or so a family memeber askes me to patch League and I am able pick it up like an old bike. The extra mechanics such as denying your own team, traditional vision mechanics (purchasable wards) and a different balance philosophy makes it feel like a professional hockey player shows up for their local beer league.

League is a good introduction to MOBAs, but its monitozation is bad, it has a stronger focus on map timings (IIRC dragon can make or break an early game) and most importantly, there is a surrender vote. DOTA 2 does not have that (your queue is a commitment, you cant walk away from games, without being labeled as toxic and being relegated to the bad sport queue), the learning curve is steeper, and while there are no requirements to unlock the roster, everyones design philosophy is that most everyone can carry (pos1) if you try hard enough.

Agree, due to the politization of the case, its no longer about legality or justice. Its a safety issue now, I dont feel like this is an ethical pardon, but the country voted against ethics, so im not going to be mad at this.

If Harris had won then it would have been a very different matter, but the upcoming DOJ apointees will likely be 47s attack dogs and the biden family cant afford have any lingering cases for them to exploit.

I sorta dont blame them... Its not right, but I dont blame them.

Now, with return of darth cheeto and his ultra loyal crew of apointees, its now a priority to not have any active cases for the saftey of the biden family. 47 may seek vengance for any percieved offense, and the bidens going forward should not expect the DOJ to behave in the interest of justice for a few years.

The GOP can seethe and cope all they want, they laid the groundwork for this use of this sort of behaivior and uncle joe has not used it (at great expense to his sons future prospects, being national news for this long cant be healthy) up until this point.

Question: What do people in this community recommend for self-hosted instant messanger projects? I host a VOIP service for my nerd herd and due to recent events i'm attempting to migrate out groups chats off of the major platforms (Discord, Google chats, Slack, Etc.) as well.

There are a few notes that were requested/requirements.

  • Self-hosted
  • Supports images
  • Has a decent mobile app
  • Encrypted communication
  • Expected load ~25 users.

I am doing my own digging but wanted to hear the communites opinions on some of the projects that came up in searches.

  • IRC/XMPP - dosent really work for the request but is a classic, so I feel had to mention it.
  • Rocket.Chat - seems like the best option so far, but I was having trouble finding current reviews, and its licensing is a bit much.
  • Matrix also is close to checking all the boxes, but it wasnt clear how it works on mobile (Element seemed like the mobile app that was recommended).
  • Revolt was high on the SEO results but most of the discussion around it was about drama with the maintainers (that is what prompted this post, i'm fishing for more current opinions).
  • Zulip seemed similar to Rocket.Chat, but more expensive if we had to get a license.

I appreciate peoples opinions and recomendations on this topic.

The problem is almost never that the wind it blowing, its what the wind is blowing.

Come on over, the water is fine. I switched to Pop_OS a few months back for the gaming rig and Proton+Steam works almost flawlessly. Older titles sometimes have hiccups, but so far ive only been blocked on one title.

Why does Fetterman, the largest senator, not simply eat the other senators?
