I'm not certain, they're fairly tight lipped about it, and from a quick google search, seem to refuse to acknowledge that they've removed most of the padding at all. Fire safety is what I've heard though, and I believe was cited in the UK when they did something similar

I managed to get into a Bank of Melbourne today, and wow they leave me feeling so ambivalent. They keep creating problems, but then are really really lovely and efficient about fixing them?

I went in and it was very much in and out. No line at all, the dude was lovely, and then he just took my license, and verified me in the span of about 2 minutes.

I've never felt so conflicted about whether a company deserves to be on my shitlist or not. Things will always go wrong, so knowing somebody can fix them politely, respectfully, and efficiently is great! But if that company is the one creating all the problems themselves, do they deserve praise for being willing and able to fix them?

Perhaps they're just hypochondriacs that pretend there are problems so people will actually go into their branches lmao

I move to create a third weekend to be positioned on Wednesdays. Those in favour?

Hey, just a heads up that nobody saw your comment until now cause you're replying from Lemmy World. We're having ongoing troubles with your instance that haven't quite resolved yet

Basically, you and the others on your instance can see us and things that happen here near instantly, but things from your side don't federate over here for about 3 days at the moment. It's improving after some recently Lemmy updates, and is now down to 3 days when it used to be a full 6 or 7

Until it's fully resolved, you may want to interact from another instance (not necessarily ours, any instance besides the NSFW ones or LW is fine) :)

Let's keep in mind he hasn't been found guilty yet. He's just a "person of interest". Although he's been charged, it's also worth keeping in mind that the rich always get the benefit of the doubt and the innocent until proven guilty mentality. No reason he shouldn't get the same

Also, he hasn't even been charged with murder yet. Just carrying a false ID, illegal possession of a firearm, and a couple other felonies/misdemeanors of related nature

Agreed.

Lucky Ducky. Today is go trip over boxes then rant at the bank day for me

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 2 points 8 hours ago

Most likely. Apparently they don't really believe in padding anymore because of something about fire safety. There's also a lot of longitudinal seating (seats that go along each wall, as opposed to the traditional seats jutting out from the wall style), and the traditional seats look smaller (though the aisles between seats are now wider)

I'd hazard a guess they'll feel similar to the short distance/commuter vlocities (they look like this). Not very comfortable, and kinda like they put concrete in the seats

I wish somebody would ask this copper chopper to stop doing laps over my head. I've been good; let me sleep

Pakige arrived

Apparently they decided to deliver it 15 minutes after I figured they wouldn't be coming and shut up shop/closed the gates. Ahmed had zero hesitation in throwing it over the fence. I don't really mind though. I would've been mad as if for the second time they rocked up at the only point during the day I closed the gate

Zero movement on the rest though. I want to lodge a "what'd you do to my parcel" thing with AP for the 3 that were "in transit" in my suburb last Tuesday, because I have a sneaky suspicion that they're at the post office and they just forgot to scan them in (something they have forgotten to do a few times before). But their thing kept yelling at me to wait until 10 business days pass, so I guess I'll do that

Possibly worth going to the LPO and asking them if they've got them somewhere, but they're really really angry people there. Arrogant as all hell. I don't want to deal with them if I don't have to. And apparently they made the decision at the start of the year to cut off their phone line so I couldn't call either

I'm pretty sure we're all across the recent decision to restrict social media to people aged 16+, but has any thought been put into how we'll respond to this?

I know we have about a year to figure it all out, but I am worried about the future of aussie.zone. @Nath@aussie.zone @lodion@aussie.zone do you have the time to implement something? Do you feel comfortable collecting the required information and managing age verification? Are donations sufficient to allow you to pay some other company to do it for you?

Another option is that we may be able to apply for an exemption from the eSafety Commissioner - but is that an actual option? Do either of you have the ability and time to procure the required documentation and write letters to the commissioner, or whatever else is needed?

Perhaps more importantly; what modifications could even be put in place that would be compatible with Lemmy? Will the instance just shut down?

If worse comes to worst, could another option be disabling signups and banning/removing all users, but keeping the instance open as a remote instance accessible solely through other instances?

Forgive me if I am being cynical and jumping the gun, but I am genuinely concerned that a solution won't be found, or neither of you will have the time/ability to implement one, forcing aussie.zone to come to a close. I really love our little instance, and it would be a major shame to see it go.

Whatever happens, please don't just leave us in the dark before eventually pulling the plug on AZ with a couple of days notice (or worse: no notice)

Sorry for the back-to-back woolies posts, but after trying their bullying tactics, they've finally realized they can't win and actually negotiated!!
