But more importantly taxing people so a proper universal social security net exists. Donations and charities are symptom treatment (and very inefficient treatment at that), while proper social security is treatment on a structural level.

The thing is in most cases they aren't doing the opposite of what users want. A disappointing high number of users are perfectly fine with subscriptions and microtransactions. The most popular games are all riddled with that shit.
Because the powers pulling in the negative direction has a much easier job than the powers pulling in a positive direction. The negative powers just has to play to peoples stupidity, fear and hatred. Simple black and white "solutions" (ie. just fault the outgroups for everything).
The positive powers have to stick to complex and often longterm solutions which requires effort and thought for people to understand the benefits of.
