No it wouldn't need to be Apple.

If a payment processor won't comply, you can ask for a chargeback at your bank, and if it keeps happening, the payment processor can be blocked from accepting EU payments at all.

Yes they do. A Big Mac is cheaper than it should be and people are struggling. For many, it's cow meat (with PFAS to taste) or nothing.

My point is that you as a person, unorganised, has as much power as one cow in this system.

If all cows banded together, they could stop this. So could we. But we are prevented from doing so.

I guess the argument is that you don't want to discount the minority of victims just because of them being a minority.

It also helps frame conversations as abusers vs victims instead of men vs women, because the latter currently leaves male victims without a voice.

I guess you would call it andricide?

Like when Israel kills Palestinian kids when they are boys but not when they are girls in similar situations because they are "likely combatants".

Or the thing that happened in Paraguay where the genocide was very much focused on men because they were men.

TBH we should stop all violence, and if this categorisation helps prevention, go for it.

The "rewording ban" shows pretty clearly that it's not about the content, but that they don't want their precious dataset poisoned with LLM slop so they can better sell it to the slop generators.

You speak as if we owned the means of production. The point of all these "it's actually 100 million people who are at fault, not the 100 who actually make decisions" articles is so that responsibility is dissolved to a point of nonexistence and nothing gets done.

At this rate, blame the cows. Their farts are a very large part of climate change. If they didn't fart, we'd be much better off.

More and more people are using docker to run shit

Docker is not made that way so people can get out of fixing shit that breaks constantly. The point is more to get rid of once-in-a-lifetime errors for which a reinstall or restart would be faster for anyway, but the main reason is that you get to sleep because if something fucky happens at 3AM, it's more likely the system will just right itself.

I certainly wouldn't call debugging a blinking container easier than just fixing shit on the server. In a container though, I can be sure the issue is fixed and it's not just another bandaid on a growing pile that is going to explode as soon as the guy building the pile retires.

If anything that sounds more Hungarian than German, with the lack of diphtongs and the "sz" at the end, but funny thing, Hungarian does the same thing as German with compound words, except it makes it even worse with turning prepositions into suffixes.

For example:

legösszetettebbszóhosszúságvilágrekorddöntéskényszerneurózistünetegyüttesmegnyilvánulásfejleszthetőségvizsgálat

meaning

Examination for the treatability of the manifestation of the syndrome of neurosis caused by the compulsion of breaking the world record of the most heavily compunded word.

Technically this isn't correct, as you should put a hyphen in there somewhere between the two main parts to improve readability if it's more than 6 syllables. Good luck finding the "two main parts" though. Maybe:

legösszetettebbszóhosszúságvilágrekorddöntéskényszer-neurózistünetegyüttesmegnyilvánulásfejleszthetőségvizsgálat

But you can also go crazy with suffixes, the often cited example is megszentségteleníthetetlenkedéseitekért, which is not at all a compound word, it means "for your acts of repeated demonstration of your beliefs that you are unable to be made unholy" (with a plural you).

And finally, you can just do an infinite loop to construct arbitrarily long words using suffixes, like this:

úszik - swims
úsztat - makes someone or something swim
úsztattat - makes sy/sg make sy/sg swim
úsztattattat - makes sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg swim
...
úsztattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattattat - makes sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg ... make sy/sg make sy/sg make sy/sg swim

Yeah, on second thought it might have been a "there are no real rules for this" situation.

Yeah but the Democratic base is less likely to turn out for criminals than the Republican base.

Yeah, this, the Saudis getting closer to him and the Quatari plane gift sounds like he's slowly realising the Arabs in general have more money while he's perhaps the one politician in the US who is immune to the AIPAC trying to primary him. And I would guess Israel hasn't even said thank you.

I don't know if American men are ready for it, but neither Harris nor Clinton were strong presidential candidates, and not because of their gender.

Length: 1:39:20

Immigrants, populism, border fences, electoral autocracy.

If you are interested about how and why Hungary is as it is, this is a documentary just released by Partizán, the most viewed Hungarian news outlet independent from the Hungarian government.

The subtitles are not autogenerated but hand-made by the news outlet.

The outlet has a decidedly leftist slant even by European standards, but are considered mainstream in Hungary.

So creating a new repo on GitHub, you get a set of getting started steps. They changed the default branchname to "main" from "master" due to its connotations with slavery.

When I create a new repo now, the initial getting started steps recommend creating a branch named "master" as opposed to "main" as it was a while ago.

It's especially weird since the line git branch -M master is completely unnecessary, since git init still sets you up with a "master" branch.

Disclaimer: I have a bunch of private repos, and my default branchnames are pretty much all "master".

Is this a recent change?

Edit: Mystery solved, my default branchname is "master". Thanks bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone !

I mean, he's not wrong, but apparently saying the quiet part out loud became a faux pas in Hungary recently.

It's not as pithy as Orbán's "Rosatom will buy it for me" about RTL Hungary though.
