Ya the prices keep me home, I'd rather get my own stuff and cook
I'm not into clubs/loud music but I do love casual pubs where you can get some good beer and decent food and just chat forever. Thats a good time for me.
well yeah. In this world that we live in money is freedom and if you don't have it your options are severely limited. For those that don't have it it getting it is the only thing that matters.
jobs, housing, cost of being alive... honestly what is there to be happy about? A lot of people did everything right, have good jobs and are responsible but most of these problems are completely outside their control, of course people are depressed. everything really is just shit.
its "I could not care less" and not "I could care less". This one drives me nuts
Because of "impact score" the journal your work gets placed in has a huge impact on future funding. Its a very frustrating process and trying to go around it is like suicide for your lab so it has to be more of a top-down fix because the bottom up is never going to happen.
Thats why everyone uses sci hub. These publishers are terrible companies up there with EA in unpopularity.
I used to call it netflix syndrome but I think its just bad writing industry-wide
I'm not seeing any lies there. I worked my ass off my entire career and still have to go back to school to get a little piece of paper that lets me do what I do in a clinical setting. I've got 2 degrees already, almost a decade of experience and I'm even decently-paid, but thanks to the cost of being alive I was forced into even more schooling to open up a few more doors in the long run. I'm feeling exactly like this article, I've given life everything I've got and the bar keeps getting higher and higher, its soul-crushing, I'm just so tired.
I just wanna look at memes, cats, and news and hang out in the comment section without being exposed to ads, is that too much to ask?I hope their IPO sucks and they get shorted i to oblivion while they bleed off users month over month, because thats whats going to happen if they keep pulling this sort of stuff.
the whole workplace culture is so anti-worker its unreal, its almost adversarial like the landlord-tennant relationship. it'd be great if there were a "you take care of me, I take care of you" attitude for employee/employers but these days it feels like they want to squeeze every last bit of productivity out of you and pay you as little as possible for your efforts, and everyone wonders why its so hard to attract tallent. its out there, just take care of your workers!
Ya I'll never stop using ad blockers, the internet is essentially unusable without them. Mine still work on youtube but if the day comes that they don't I'll just stop using it. We need some competition here, things have gotten increasingly anticonsumer and the companies have gotten too comfortable doing and charging whatever they want
I prefer RPG, interesting narratives and "experiences". I also used to be really into multiplayer games like halo 3, MW2, battlefield 4/bad company2 and even rainbow 6 siege. Whats turned me off of all that is aggressive monetization and super competitive sweat fests. It feels like all the fun/soul in those "good oll' days" games just isn't there anymore. Peak fun for me was maxed out halo 3 custom games and they just don't make them like that anymore.
