I've lived my entire life in commie blocks and unless my neighbours were renovating I had no issue with noise. However, new apartment building here do have that problem, and it is very noticeable, so maybe the issue isn't with the concept of an apartment by itself, just the materials used in building them. Commie blocks are thick concrete and rebar.

Yup, there's plenty of time to have fun if you don't have to manage lil' ones. Not saying people who want kids shouldn't get them, but moreso that people who don't necessarily want them and just see it as something people have to do should consider a childless lifestyle. It's better for everyone that way.

Oh, that's very interesting. Where I live there are only upper speed limits on most roads except highways. On other roads you can drive as slowly as you want, though everyone will overtake you if they can or honk at you if you don't.

I've never understood why people pick on drivers under the speed limit. It's called a limit, why do we expect people to be over it?

It's a weird coincidence how ofter this happens with kids and French teachers. I know at least 3 other people who have been through similar stuff and it happened to me too and we've all been to different schools

And also planned obsolescence

And gave them windows. Trump doesn't even give his victims that much

Can someone explain to me in layman's terms why this is the most efficient way?

There are many reasons to dislike the communist regimes in Eastern Europe, but these tenements are not it. Quite a lot of people prefer to buy these sorts of apartments over newer ones simply because they are built better. Keep in mind that those in these sorts of pictures haven't been properly maintained in years. They are 40-50 years old, it's normal for any building that has not been taken care of to look worn down - but if the owners of these apartments put in the effort to modernise their buildings, they are very comfortable. I live in one and it's great!

As long as they don't use exactly the same words in the book, yeah, as I understand it.

That is, if they stay accessible and affordable for everyone. Would be lovely

Working in a zoo must be very fun. Probably tough as hell, but very fun

Basically how subreddits like r/LFG worked.

There are so many great song in my mother tongue that virtually nobody aside from the relatively few speakers could realistically even come into contact with. I'm certain all of you non-English speakers here can relate! I linked one of my favourite songs, what are yours?

Hey y'all! I've been thinking about starting a group of Legacy. For those who don't know, the system is a Powered by the Apocalypse game set in a Post-Apocalyptic setting of any kind (I was thinking a zombie apocalypse) where the players take control of factions. You shepherd your community through the ages and you also take control of significant characters from them to solve various threats to your community. You take decisions at both the faction and personal level, and you both cooperate and compete with the other players for resources.

My timezone is EEST. If you're interested, leave a comment or a DM and I'll be in touch!

In the old days of a few years ago, I used The Trove to find all I needed. Is there any replacement? I'm specifically looking for niche ttrpgs.

TLDR: New enemies, new events, new season. There's a new beer and new music, but most importantly of all, JET BOOTS! Also, some quality of life changes

TLDR: More story, a new Flashpoint, changes to the economy and progression balance, new pvp season and an event

TLDR: Mostly bugfixes, but there are a few new buildings and content, such as new chirp messages.

Preferably one that's not a rom hack, though I dig those too. I'm looking for something a bit harder than the originals and maybe a bit more mature, but still fair and whimsical. I'd like a game with pokemon from as many gens as possible, and fakemons are fine too.

TLDR: Added archaeology, a camel that can carry two people, a new cherry tree biome, two new wood sets (cherry and bamboo), smithing rework, a new mob called a Sniffer, new music and more.

I've just made a community for posting links and keeping track of game updates. Feel free to join and to post about upcoming or recently released updates to your favourite games! https://lemmy.ml/c/gameupdates

TLDR: They are adding flexicolour staff uniforms and cinematic camera tools in the free update. In the DLC, they are adding several new animals: -Dromedary Camel -Addax -Dama Gazelle -African Crested Porcupine -Sand Cat -Black Rhino -Somali Wild Ass -(Exhibit) Desert Horned Viper
