Agreed, "Tux gone rogue" is the only valid form of AI art.

“Unfortunately, the coverage you paid for doesn’t extend to any situation where there is water in, on, or around your home,” said Pat Treacy, a claims adjuster at Countrywide Mutual Insurance who informed the Colemans that their policy had actually been voided the moment they first filled their bathtub or ran water from their sinks. “It’s industry standard, I’m afraid. Houses just aren’t meant to get wet. No insurance company anywhere would take on that kind of liability. If it’s possible to prove the house remained dry during the storm, and it just sort of fell down on its own, then maybe a case could be made for approving your claim.” Treacy went on to wish the Coleman family well and said he would keep an eye out for them on GoFundMe.

This is absolute hogwash. Actual centrists bring up some Republican talking points (at least, the valid ones) when talking to a Democrat, because democrats don’t seem to understand them.

Surprise surprise, Republicans think centrists bring up Democratic talking points.

lmao even as you attempt to deny that centrists only spout republican talking points and take cheap shots at democrats you couldn't help but imply that democrats are too dumb to understand the other side's position while holding a neutral tone toward republicans in the very next sentence. Centrists can't even hide their disingenuous nonsense when they're trying to pass themselves off as the real victims. So just knock it off and climb down off your cross. Nobody's buying it.

While it’s great news that someone’s finally going to prison I can’t help but feel that 9 years out of the 20 that the prosecution were seeking is still a slap on the wrist. At 68 this may still prove to be a life sentence but I’d feel a lot better if she had received the max and removed all doubt. If anyone deserves it, it’s this woman, the judge even recognized she has no remorse for her crimes and would do it again if she had the chance.

These weak sentences are only going to embolden the republicans organizing the next attempt to steal the elections. And that one is mere weeks away.

Event Horizon (1997), Sunshine (2007), and Pandorum (2009) make one hell of a deep space sci-fi/horror triple feature for the Halloween season.

Now that I mention it I think I’m going to pick up a pizza and marathon all three this weekend while shitposting on Lemmy lol.

“Like a lot of modern day truth tellers, I’ve been silenced,” said Monroe in his Netflix special: Canceled Trigger Warning – Offended???, which he was paid twenty million dollars to produce.

Since people on Lemmy don’t read articles and only comment on headlines here’s why this is important:

As a deadly storm system approached the southeastern U.S. last week, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper’s office asked top state officials to support his call for emergency help.

He needed approval from the other elected officials in North Carolina’s executive branch, a group of nine known as the Council of State, to exercise certain authorities under the N.C. Emergency Management Act. Their blessing would enable the Democratic governor to more easily mobilize rescue vehicles, order evacuations and begin other emergency actions by waiving some of the state’s transportation regulations for heavy vehicles.

Mark Robinson did not support the people of North Carolina when they needed him, but also keeps publicly insisting that Gov Cooper do more. Basically, he is and always will be a total fucking piece of shit.

The One! Best nü metal infused sci-fi martial arts flick ever made. Remember when he picked up a police motorcycle in each hand and used them as clubs? That was pretty sweet.

I recall this being announced earlier in the year, and it's the result of current (5yr) contracts expiring and not specifically tied to a recent development in the war or anything like that. CERN just decided not to renew contracts with Russian scientists who are solely affiliated with Russian institutes but had to wait for them to run out, and as the article points out, this already happened to scientists from Belarus back in June.

At this point, refusing to fact-check a debate is just a tacit admission that you want to help the GOP. After all, JD Vance is on record saying he has no problem lying and making up things if he thinks it's politically advantageous. Tim Walz shouldn't have to cut into his time correcting the lies of an established liar. Why have journalists involved at all? Seems like it'd be cheaper to hire some bozo off the street to read the questions and only enforce time limits on the Democrat. You don't need Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan to accomplish that.
