I use Boost. Has a little rocket ship logo. Used to use it for reddit until they banned 3rd party.

When I switched to Lemmy I was chuffed to find it worked with it.

I think it works quite well.

This is why we can't have nice things

That's a nasty story but thanks for sharing. Glad he didn't get stung in the sinuses. I can't imagine how much that would have hurt.

Hopefully our stories help people understand the risk of bugs when biking.

Yeah if I get super winded I do like a very small mouth opening. But mostly try to keep that closed.

I also, luckily, wear big glasses and have had quite a few bugs smack against them.

I don't know what the solution is since wearing a face shield is super hot and can fog up.

It just came in and right to the back and reflex kicked in and down it went.

This happened when I was a teenager and the horror of it all still haunts me to this day.

Data scrapping happens continuously And poisoning is very effective. Especially if more people do it.

I once accidentally ate a June bug while on my bicycle.

Im wondering how often this sort of thing happens to animals who move fast.

I also now never mouth breathe on my bike. Regardless if I'm winded or not. No more June bugs for me, thanks.

People typically don't eat their pets. Regardless if dog or pig.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

I saw a video of the guy crying in his car after confronting the people who kidnapped his dog and sold it.

Heartbreaking. He might just go John wick on their ass.

They stole his beloved pet and sold it to be slaughtered.

Most people see their pets as family. How would you feel if someone did that to your pet or family member you loved?

It's enough to make someone go on a vengeance spree. It really is.

Not my story but from a guy I met playing a mmo.

He told me he was in community college and there was some kid who always brought a fly swatter to a class they both had. The cheap ones with a colorful plastic end.

Like every single class. He took it out of his backpack and put it on the desk. Never used it once.

There was some other part to the story but Ive forgotten it.

But twas community college. Guy wasn't some young kid but a boy on the cusp of manhood.

I do believe the course was on criminal forensics. Or something related to that topic.

Which kinda made it more bizarre.

Ever see the underside of these on a fishtank side?

I did once at a fish pet store.

I remember it looking like a hundred tiny suction cups.

But I can't seem to find a good photo. This was the best I could find. Check out a real one if you get a chance.

Weird I thought it was the billionaires hoarding wealth. I guess we shouldnt be mad at the billionaires anymore but at older Americans who have homes.

Yeah they are the bad guys !

And how dare they stay alive. I mean. The audacity !

I made a short video to show 3 of my cats favorite things that aren't made for cats. https://youtu.be/6EMHzoJz6aU

You can watch the video to see what I'm referring to and see them in action or read my short description below. (Disclaimer. I'm not a YouTube creator. I'm not promoting my channel or content. Not trying to sell anything. I just made this to share with the community).

That said I am recommending 3 products. But you can purchase them from many places made by many different companies. I buy a lot of craft stuff from AliExpress so I'm including screenshots from there.

Also all 3 of these items are less than $2 each.

Item 1.
My cats prefer eva foam kneeling pads to cat scratching materials like jute and cardboard scratchers.

I buy mine at the dollar tree during the summer and stock up for the rest of the year as they are only sold in spring and summer.

Item 2. Suede cord. I think mine is 8 or 10mm wide. I prefer this over ribbon because the cat's claws can't get caught in it and it doesn't fray. I think my cat likes it because they can bite it and it has a nice soft give to it.

AliExpress

Item 3. Sold as TPU or rubber wraps for phone cords. These come in a ton of colors. Very inexpensive. I like these because they don't fray and cat's claws don't get caught in them. The cat likes them because it mimics pulling meat and chewing on phone cords.

AliExpress

Occasionally my cats get bored of these ribbon alternatives for a while but then always rediscover them. That seems to be common with how they like their other toys too. I find that hiding the toys they aren't using for a month or two makes them more likely to show interest again.

Anywho. If you have some toy or product alternatives you have found that work well with your cats. Please share. especially if they are inexpensive alternatives.

I'm looking to ask some questions about streaming steam from my PC to my laptop and tablet.

I can't find an answer anywhere I've searched.

Reddit has a sub for moonlight gaming.

But all my reddit accounts are perma banned. Even ones I hardly ever used so they seem to know my Microsoft account and have my whole deal banned. I guess I could go to a library but ...

Is there some place on lemmy I could ask ?

Basics of my situation.

PC has 12gb GPU 6700xt. AMD processor and GPU. Ryzen 7 , 7700 64gb ddr6 ram.

I'm trying to stream my PC steam to my laptop or tablet so I can play games through those. Specifically text heavy games. So the screen is closer to my face.

My main monitor hooked to my PC is my tv. 4k LG TV with HDR.

If I use steamlink on my Samsung tab 6 lite (10.4 inch 2000x1200 resolution) tablet I experience constant notifications of poor connection even though both the tablet and PC are in the same room as the router. Both on 5g network. The screen also turns off after 2 minutes even though I've changed it to 30 minutes. Turned off battery saver. Tried everything.

Almost like clockwork there is a hiccup lag in the image. Regardless of what I'm doing. This happened even outside of games just in the steam big picture. So thinking maybe tablet is just not going to work.

However, I tried downloading sunrise and moonlight to try that.

No more regular lags. Screen still times out 2 min but I get a new problem. Stream is only 720p resolution. Regardless of what settings I change in moonlight, it persistently stays at 720p. Even the mirror for the desktop is 720 (outside of steam app).

For the laptop. An Asus. 2 years old.14 inch screen. Supports hdr too. 1920x1080

I tried steam link with it. Resolution is good but does have lag occasionally. Too often to use.

I tried moonlight game streaming . Again, it will only transmit at lower resolution. Looks like 720p. Changing settings in moonlight do not appear to do anything. Even after restarting PC completely.

Resolution stays low. But there is not really any lags.

I tried changing my primary screen to the same resolutions as the tablet and Asus laptop. This didn't fix the low resolution in moonlight.

I've searched all over and can't find anyone else reporting this problem. The low resolution is present even outside of steam. The windows desktop icons and text are hard to read because of the low resolution (on the client device).

It's like the settings in moonlight aren't working or are being over written.

But steamlink creates proper client resolution. So why isn't moonlight ?

Also the color and brightness is bad too on the client (moonlight). But this might be caused by low resolution. It's good on steamlink though.

Turning off HDR on the host PC display settings helps with bad color and brightness but the client supports hdr so it shouldn't be a problem.

I recently took in a stray and boy does his poo stink so bad compared to my existing house cat.

I had dewormed him 2 weeks ago but whew. It was bad and has stayed bad. Like a stank that will wake you up in the middle of the night even though it's two rooms away.

I googled some suggestions. A lot of people with similar issues. Not much help for my situation.

Firstly. I do want to say that if you see blood or diarrhea. It could be food allergy or medical condition. But if that's all good it's likely gut bacteria is off.

De-worming can also exacerbate that problem.

I found very little help through conventional searches so I started looking at research articles.

Long story short.

Yogurt.

Lactose bacteria. A few specific strains can help get things back on track.

Dry cat snacks saying they have probiotics are often misleading. Don't buy those. Your cat needs live bacteria re-introduced.

Here was my approach. I bought plain yogurt.

Put some on a plate. Cat wasn't interested.

So I got a liquid cat treat. Specifically Delectables Bisque. Which the cats go crazy for but is a little $$.

But I mixed it with about 1 tsp of yogurt. Maybe a little more.

Cat ate it right up.

That's one time so far. 2 days ago.

Cat poo smell is already way better. It's almost unbelievable how much it's improved.

Like half as smelly. I'm going to buy a few more bisques and give him some once a week for a while.

Here is the research article if you want to read through it yourself.

Lactobacillus plantarum is found in yogurt.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11205573/

Lactobacillus plantarum L11 may affect fat metabolism in cats by exerting a positive impact on the gut microbiome, thereby reducing odorous substances and improving nutrient digestion [22]. These preliminary findings indicate that probiotics may alter the gut microbiota by increasing beneficial bacteria and reducing harmful bacteria. Further research is needed to investigate the effects of these probiotic-based alterations to the gut microbiome on feline health, as well as other action pipelines.

I couldn't come up with a clever title.

Posted on makerworld, printables, thingivese.

"Cloth" on Molotov cocktail is made from a bread tie. Otherwise you will also need glue, jump rings , earring hooks and an eyelet screw. You could probably use a bit of wire instead of the eyelet screw if you have that instead.

Prints fast and easy.

Free and commercial free too. https://makerworld.com/models/1392048

These are symbols. I'm not advocating for vandalism.

Honestly I got the idea from games I play that have bricks and Molotovs.

Im not promoting their use. They are symbols of feelings that many of us are having right now. Just like the guillotine.

But we aren't going around building guillotines. At present, Ive not seen any riots in the U.S nor use of either of these except on Nazi cars on dealership lots.
