rather more of them than on earth, according to the article.

Wowhead, the database of Warcraft items, lists 1,203 types of currency in the game. To be fair, some of those have been retired, and others are currency for a single item or purpose—but in comparison, the entire world (not of Warcraft) only has 180.

fun fact: the blind spot is because our optical sensors are installed backwards and that hole is so the optic nerve can pass back through the back of the eye to the brain. some other critters with independently evolved vision systems, such as cephalopods, avoided this particular evolutionary pitfall.

if you're concerned about defederation, why would you go to lemmy.world, which seems no better on that front than lbz?

take a bit from the outer perimeter, rotate the zza slightly, then take another bite. repeat until you've spiral-noshed the whole thing

according to this list, nobody has gotten a billion from a lottery, yet. but sure, i guess that is the way to get rich, without having to exploit others. i also feel like i ought to point out that i never accused anyone of being evil geniuses, just evil.

edit: fixed link

i think super rich people do fucked up shit because:

  1. that's the only way you become mega-rich, and
  2. they want more

if i already have 'infinite' money, why would i want more, and since i'm getting this via magic or something, there's no incentive to be evil in order to become or remain mega-rich. in short, yeah, i reckon i'd be alright, and we'd all be better off in the long run.

why would he do that?

he stands to make “several million dollars” due to Trump’s continued use of the song.

oh, right.

it's not sketchy, it's basically a captcha to keep down automated bot sign ups, and they link to that document in particular, i assume, because the devs are marxists and figure folks who are vehemently anti-communist would refuse and thus keep down their moderation load.

first day! (lemm.ee)

after about nine months of dreaming and pining and putting it off because of money, i finally got me some inline skates and i am so happy with them.

i used to do a bit of aggressive inline years ago, and last winter i got the idea in me to start skating again for some reason, and the idea would not leave me be. i was hesitant to order something online though without being able to try it on first, but i found a physical skate shop with what i wanted only like an hour and half drive away.

so i hit the road this morning, and not only did i manage to get exactly the skates i wanted, sized perfectly, and they were on sale, but the dude (Gil) at the shop threw in a free t-shirt and some wax too. big shout out to roller warehouse in rocklin, CA.

i then took them to a local rink, and was pleasantly surprised that i hadn't lost all of my skills over the past decade. i did take one tumble when trying to hop out of fakie, but i had a hell of a time overall.

For the past 20 years UK Post Office employees have been dealing with a piece of software called Horizon, which had a fatal flaw: bugs that made it look like employees stole tens of thousands of British pounds. This led to some local postmasters being convicted of crimes, even being sent to prison, because the Post Office doggedly insisted the software could be trusted. After fighting for decades, 39 people are finally having their convictions overturned, after what is reportedly the largest miscarriage of justice that the UK has ever seen.
