Time for people to be mad that sudo-rs isn't GPL even though the original sudo wasn't GPL either.

Think we can get them to rename it to xy11? You know, because only having x is part of the feminist agenda.

I don't think so, Valve already have their hands full with one translation layer and probably don't want to add another layer on top of it.

I also wouldn't be surprised if battery life ends up being worse through the hypothetical vm. It still has to do the same amount of work after all.

I've watched two people online play the game and both pretty much slammed it. It should absolutely have been free with the console. Is $10 really disposable enough income to spend on what is essentially an ad for the console you've already bought and a handful of minigames? 7/10 is a wild score to give it, but I guess reviewers get these games for free anyway so price doesn't matter.

I think the idea is that if you can't do a loud pride (not everyone can), it's okay to take it slow and relax.

The fight is worthless if the people being fought for don't make it.

It's relatively trivial, you just need to write a kernel module. You'd just need/want to make it gpl so everything it does is fully audited and transparent. That's not a problem, is it? Right?

From a technical standpoint, you could argue that someone could create a fork of the kernel that spoofs the interface that the anticheat uses to make it ignore things. You can, of course, also do something similar in Windows, but security theatre never let practicality get in the way.

It gets to the point where i look for someone to argue with cause of this and end up saying or doing things I regret, rince and repeat.

Break this cycle. It's not healthy. The community isn't worthy of this much of your headspace.

Daily backups. Then you can have as much wild ambition as you like. Disk failures do not care for your permissions bits anyway.

Practically though, one thing I find that's a good habit to get into is to use rmdir on directories that you know should be empty instead of rm -rf. If you've made a mistake and try to delete the wrong folder, it'll error out.

By deliberately misgendering someone, he's signaling to others that he thinks that someone's right to self-identification and expression can be waived if they do something objectionable. Sure his partner may not deserve respect, but there is no reason to pull the entire lgbti+ community down with him.

From what you've said about this situation though, I don't think it's just a lack of respect. Misgendering someone actually causes harm - there's a reason 80% of US trans people are suicidal after all. I'm almost certain he's doing this to hurt him because why else would he bother otherwise? It is absolutely harassment.

There are essential human dignities that all humans no matter their situation should have access to. Even prisoners in jails should be allowed to wear clothes and have toilets. Trans rights are human rights, not a token to be traded away when a couple has a spat.

I think non-autistic people can just... Not listen to things. Like there's a noise and they're like "nah, I'm good" and filter it out.

Incidentally, both bad sex and code documentation both involve std vectors.

Unironically I've been feeling quite a bit better after putting my phone in another room as I sleep. I think it now makes the bedroom a place where my brain feels it can take a break from the horrors of the world.

Fun little Wario-Ware like.

So I'm over 100 hours in and I've just reached the point where I've made it above Aquilo's orbit.

However, I wonder if I spent too much time setting up a janky interplanetary logistics system rather than just using Nauvis resources for science. Also, Gleba spiders keep eating my base.

Figured I'd ask then... How long did it take before you touched down on Aquilo in your playthrough?

Got sent this, and the animation is actually quite well done for how simple it is.

It's fun, and well worth looking at if you like smash.

Been playing this game a bit. Can't comment on how good it is compared to actual battlefield, but I've been having fun.

Currently in (free) beta, not sure how long they are doing their playtest for though.

Interesting piece of webdev solving.

Stumbled upon this game and had fun with the demo. Might be up some people's alley.

Hey all, I'm British so I don't really know the ins and outs of the US healthcare system. Apologies for asking what is probably a rather simple question.

So like most of you, I see many posts and gofundmes about people having astronomically high medical bills. Most recently, someone having a $27k bill even after his death.

However, I have an American friend who is quick to point out that apparently nobody actually pays those bills. They're just some elaborate dance between insurance companies and hospitals. If you don't have insurance, the cost is lower or removed entirely. Supposedly.

So I'm just asking... How accurate is that? Consider someone without insurance, a minor physical ailment, a neurodivergent mind and no interest in fighting off harassing people for the rest of their life.

How much would such a person expect to pay, out of their own pocket, for things like check ups, x rays, meds, counselling and so on?

I recently played through a demo for a game called Pinball Spire on steam, and it put me in the mood for playing pinball games. Unfortunately, and I don't know if this is just due to me having bad google-foo, there don't seem to be that many on Steam that catch my interest.

So figured I may as well make a thread asking about what the "state of the art" of pinball video games is. Some of the ones I've played:

  • Sonic Spinball: Very janky, but very unique and I don't think I've seen anyone try to do anything similar to it.
  • Pokémon Pinball and Sonic Pinball Party: Fairly standard pinball games, tbh. They're both on handhelds so they can't do that much.
  • Demon's Tilt and Xenotilt: Just really fun feeling arcade pinball games with a really fun tilt mechanic.

So yeah, know any good PC or console pinball games?

Oh, and can someone help me: I vaguely remember seeing a stream of a pinball game for the Mega Drive/SNES where the ball goes through multiple tables. Does anyone know what that game was called, if it even exists?

So https://meow.social/@TwilightSaint/112810490753805813 popped up in my feed and I had to find the full version. Sharing here because it's really nice.
