Oooh. I love Picross, and Squeakross looks fun. Adding it to my wishlist.

Have fun with BG3!

Hopefully they will fix the issue.

You've mentioned your reasoning before, but as much Switch games as you play, why not just upgrade to Switch 2? Won't suggest that to everyone but you primarily play on Switch, right?

Oh, sad to head about him. Missed the news. Though I have only played Double Dragon from the older games.

Would love to hear how it feels to play Virtual Boy now. The game trailers don't look that interesting in 2D, but maybe they are more fun with the device.

Oooh, can't wait. Origins and Legends both were really good.

It would be so fun if they keep the name "Untitled John Wick Game", like Project Octopath Traveler.

Played Darksiders 3 some more.

Figured out what happens to souls after you die, a phantom / ghost like thingy start flying near the place, you just destroy it and get back the souls. Got a new powerup, and am at a place with many enemies. Turned it off the game when I kept dying. Will get back to it this weekend.

Also played some Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains.

So the game is apparently a port of the mobile version, which basically gives you lots of XP so you level up faster, making the game much easier. Which I like, since these older RPGs can be pretty tough.

The game has random encounters, which I am not a fan of, but you get the option to "Auto Attack" which makes these fights much faster, and with increased XP, it keeps the things moving fast. There is also a "Tame" mechanic which allows you to capture different monsters, and then with "Fusion system" you can merge different monsters or items to get different monsters or upgrade your equipment. You can also summon the monsters in battle, and they can help you attack the enemy.

There are also many side-quests and puzzles, but they are quite obtuse if you aren't used to these older games. The quests doesn't appear as anything special, you just talk to NPCs and they talk like other NPCs but mention some problem in it, so you have to fix their problem or whatever, without any log or marker or anything. Took me a bit getting used to, and actually missed a few side-quests in the first area.

The story and the world is pretty good though, even with subpar translation and the way font formatting is.

So far, I'll recommend it if you like older RPGs with good stories, and are willing to deal with some dated mechanics.

What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

Hope this means they are working on a new Rayman

I might play them again if they are a good remake. Not going to care if it's just a coat of paint, loved the originals but don't want to play the same game again unless they significantly improve.

Though, on second though, I am not really sure what else they can improve. Maybe some QoL features. Controls were pretty good from what I remember but it has bee over a decade so who knows.

Looks nice. Completely unexpected though.

Interesting that they used "Nintendo" logo, instead of "Switch" or "Switch 2" logo.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Thanks, decided to go for Rise first, but wont' be getting it in current sale, will do it after I have finished the games I am already playing.

As for World of Light, I am playing on Normal, not sure if you can go easier, but it has been a long while, will give it another look.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Oh, I won't worry about that, even if things go bad, it's an already established universe with lots of fans, perfect for their next live service game setting.

At the time I was sure Elop is some kind of undercover agent from Microsoft.

Finished Ys IX: Monstrum Nox ! Not a big fan of the direction the story took, but still, the game was fun, so no complaints.

Also finished Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The last world was so difficult, lost over 50 lives, and had to use Funky Kong on the last boss. There are apparently other paths and secret levels, and I'll also like to collect the KONG letters, at least for the first 3-4 worlds. Will do that slowly over a long period of time, but for now, officially the game has ended.

Played Subsurface Circular, a short VN that you can finish in one sitting. It takes place in a future where robots are common and taking care of most of the jobs. The whole game is in a subway, and is mostly linear with a choice in the end, though it's possible there were other choices throughout the game that I missed.

Started Darksiders 3 on PS5. The game only has a PS4 version which plays at 30FPS, which means there aren't any advantages to not play on Switch, but I had a "free" copy from PS+, so went with that.

First of all, whoever says it's soulslike is wrong, the game is not soulslike. It does have some minor elements, like getting souls when you kill an enemy, and losing souls when you die (only died on the first boss, and couldn't find a way to reclaim the lost souls, but that was in first 5-10 mins, so maybe it will change further in the game), the combat is also a bit more methodical than the hack and slash of previous versions but it's no where near the soulslike level. And if you don't like even that, you can switch the combat to the "classic" mode, which is same as first two games, though that's what it says, I haven't tried it myself yet. There is no stamina system, the leveling up is very simple, divided in health, attack and magic (counter attack and maybe some skill that I'll unlock in future, no idea).

For those who have played the previous game but not 3, it's another "parallel sequel", happens at the same time as the first and second game. Can't wait to get a proper sequel, it seems Darksiders 4 will be the one.

On Switch, I have just started Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains, it's a long running chinese RPG series, and this is 3rd entry in the series, which is the oldest game in the series that is available in west, on modern systems. The latest entry is Xuan-Yuan Sword 7, which was released in 2020. I haven't started playing it yet, have only started it and reached the title screen, so can't really say anything about it.
