I followed that, but it never did work. I don't remember the error the Xorg threw when I attempted to initialize it. I will probably try OpenBSD next.

Thanks! Yes this is one reason I am trying out BSD - Because it is different. The background politics are also different, and may be an important reason to switch. Finally though I have to be able to play Minecraft.(Yes this is a major design goal)

I am a long time Linux User, KDE user. I want to try out BSD, but I am having a hard time getting it installed.

I tried the latest version of FreeBSD but it seems to come without X or Wayland (Or any of the other graphical bits) and I can't seem to get the graphical part working.

Nothing yet has been done with the machine, so, if anyone can recommend an easy-to-install - that works out of the box in full graphics where I don't have to mess with modelines like 2001. I would love to try an OS where there are not too many cooks in the kitchen.

I will be installing it on a Lenovo Ideapad.

KDE - Was Gnome, but I switched for a reason. I, uh, forgot the reason.

I stumbled upon a Dell Optiplex 760 in a local flea market for $20.00 ! it runs FreeDOS now really well. I have yet to find a driver for the CD/DVD drive but then I don't use that much.

My ASUS Vivobook has a slider that blocks the camera physically. It is bright red so I can easily see it is closed.

Well, I am not in Australia, but so far my AT&T Uverse has worked well. We don't need the VOIP or TVOIP we use our cell phones and don't watch TV so it's all Internet.

The central office at the other end of that fiber probably has emergency generators too.

I use a small band-aid - no gummy glue on the lens!

In an area power outage, if one keeps the router alive via UPS does the router have anything to talk to? In my case I am "Fiber to the node", there is a box on the sidewalk at the other end of the block that receives the fiber, then copper to my house.

Samsung Baloney? (lemmy.one)

I just got a notice from Samsung that they have new a new Privacey policy. When I get to the policy page it is blank except for a "Accept new policy" and text saying I must accept the policy to see it. I clicked the button - then that screen closed. What?? no policy? BTW - this was not sent as a normal text and does not show up in messages.

An HOA (home owners associations) can say what color you can paint your house, What you can plant in your yard, What you can have in your driveway, and some even say what color your blinds can be.

Microsoft controls your computer, they say what info is sent back to Microsoft, and they say when you must upgrade. They can shut down your computer when they want whether you like it or not.

If one unmounts a disk, is that disk still available for write and can the following sync do anything?

Mine: ISO, Drive Mode, Battery Info, Digital Zoom. I have 2 more slots. Does your camera provide this feature? What is on your custom menu?

The right shift key vs. the up arrow key on my Lenovo Ideapad have been placed unfortunately - I think they would be better swapped - When I go for shift I usually catch the up-arrow instead

Is there any help for this?

"Haiku" done as a neon sign - black background, colorful neon.

In case I can't attach it here is the link to Night Cafe where the background was created and is now stored.

Hi fellow photographers!

  • Do you render your digital pictures on paper (print)?

  • Do you use a printer in the home for it?

  • What printer do you use?

  • What printer would you recommend with cost vs quality in mind? (8.5 x 11 prints would be fine)

  • Do you send your pictures to a commercial printer?

  • Do you goto the nearest Staples or Walmart and use the printers there?

{Solved Thanks}

Would there be any interest? header tags are used to make table of contents, anchor tags create Index entries, all the formatting tags (tables, un-numbered and numbered lists etc) do basic print formatting. All the bold/underline/italic also render to paper. Sort of like a poor man's TeX.

Has anyone done this?

First, please let me apologize for my lack of proper vocabulary. 😃

I have a Canon EOS R50 with the stock 18 to 45 lens.

I need a stronger telephoto capability, to take bird pictures, the moon, get that lone oak tree out in a field etc. There are devices that one can place between the lens and the body to <>, right? Would it be better to get one of these or to buy another whole lens? I am assuming the adapter would be less expensive. Money is a factor. (isn't it always?)

One of their choices should have been: "This survey is exactly the reason I am going to a different browser. "
