I was lured to use it during those days as well because of all the cool and wildly different screenshots I had seen. I did manage to get it working and looking super cool, but it was fragile and complex. It was so easy to fully break it in my experience. I tried to use it again about 8-10 years ago and while it was easier than the 90s, it was more trouble than I was willing to put up with for a DE these days. Especially since Gnome (with extension) and KDE could trivially look nice.

Honestly, even just preventing MCR is a win in my book. Add on preventing Twilight and we're doing great, THEN preventing 50 Shades of Grey? They need to get to work on that time machine right away!

I guess this is just a difference in how we look at it. I have for decades now used what I perceive as quality/value to decide whether I should buy a game or whether it may be worth if later if it goes on a steep sale. For example, some AAA game that get polarizing reviews or is known to be very short might be an instance where I'd be not be inclined to pay full price because to me, it wasn't worth the price. Raising the price of a game to $80 means that I personally will want more value out of it. I just bought a game on Steam yesterday for $20 on sale, which was to me worthwhile. If it had been $80, there is no way I would have bought it.

Ironically, GrapheneOS and Calyx are some of the few in position to actually soft fork from AOSP because they don't implicitly rely on having access to Google Play Services and the Play Store. Many of their users don't want anything to do that with that stuff, which is what Google holds over the heads of all the OEMs.

It sucks that I just bought a new phone a month ago so that I could move back to GrapheneOS. That being said, I'll personally be fine with no updates as long as they don't push out some update that cripples the OS. I use my phone like a nearly dumb phone, but that won't cut it for 99.9% of people..

I got my wife some of those last year. I wish they had lasted longer, but we couldn't find a balance of sunlight that they liked. And yeah, they not all that bright, but still super cool.

So, just so I am clear, you think that it is silly to want different amounts of quality or value from products based on how they are priced?

They probably meant that it felt like a game that was stripped down and shallow compared to similar AAA "full price" games and I completely agree. After playing the first one, I wouldn't only consider buying this new game if it was at least 50% off.

The 1997 Fincher movie or the one that you just lost?

Wow, the evil forces of "coke" have made significant territory gains since the last time I saw one of these maps. I have never heard a single person call a random non-coke soda a "coke". I recently moved to a "pop" area, but I haven't received any push back from saying soda at least. I did hear some old people here specifically call it "soda pop" though.

The 8a is a great replacement, but I can understand someone not wanting to give Google any more money after they pull this shit AGAIN. I had to because GrapheneOS wasn't available on anything else.
