3.5) If you were depicting a fantasy race, just use a shade of "grey-black" not "brown-black" to differentiate the inhuman character
3.5 still gets backlash, e.g, community season 2ep14 advanced dungeons and dragons. Pulled from Netflix for depicting Chang as a Dark elf.
I literally put that in to critique that specific choice. His colour was too black and not grey enough
The examples of blackface among American politicians as well around that time (and I'm sure continuing) are abundant. It wasn't just JT, and IASIP was right to call them out on it in the satirical fashion that was relevant at the time. It's not their fault that some of the audience they reached were idiots that took it as "haha blackface funny" rather than "haha idiots that do blackface seriously are fucking idiots". We've seen through the whole run of their show how some fans have and continue to miss the point that these are assholes and you're not meant to want to be like them or do the things they do.
only robert downy jr. can pull off blackface
Community used actual grey blue black for the drow character played by Chang and they had a huge lampshade hanging on how racist that was to do even if it was a rpg group with friends, and they still disappeared the episode despite it being one of the best of the entire show T_T Yes, I'm still mad about it.
If this is grey/blue, go get your eyes checked out
I'm talking about this kind of grey
Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada for 10 damn years, did blackface in 2001.
It became a subject of widespread public conversation in 2019 and many people defended or minimized it.
i dont understand why anyone cares about the audience at all, fuck the audience. if they knew what they wanted to see they would make it themselves
