Member of the Bombylius genus are a flies mimicking a bumblebees and are parasitic on solitary bees.

You can tell this is specifically a Bombylius discolor because it has dark spots on the wings

It's -12°F here. Every time it gets this cold a few bald eagles come down from the mountains and perch on the electric poles on my back yard. Today it is only one but we've had up to three at a time.
