I'm thinking of using Shizuku to give root access to Automate app. My doubt is will it backfire in some way. I'm trying to automate enabling and disabling of Work Profile based on a schedule which frustratingly is missing on Samsung. I'm trying to run the adb commands "am stop-user -f 10" using privileged user block in Automate. Can anyone comment on this? Thanks in advance.

Turning off this TV really just brings up a black screen. I can for the life of me how to actually turn it off off. It’s mounted so hard to access the power.

Two months ago, I upgraded from my loyal 3 year old friend aka Note 10 Lite to the S22 Ultra (for a low price of 350€ from a trust worthy seller). It's an upgrade yeah, but apart from the way better camera, long software support, and the slight convenience of wireless charging, I don't feel like it's a huge difference. My note 10 lite still delivers even when comparing performance in general. S22 Ultra heats up like crazy and loses performance and battery life because of it. I don't know if it's like that in general because I don't upgrade often but I don't feel like I'm gaining a lot performance wise. For that reason, I still have both and change them up occasionally... Would you consider selling the S22 Ultra for about 400/450€ while it's still relevant, save the money up and maybe wait a few month for the S23 Ultra to drop price or just stick with the 22 Ultra instead, in hopes that updates fix some of those issues?

FM Radio? (lemmy.world)
submitted 11 months ago by Iamdanno@lemmy.world to c/samsung@lemmy.world

I rock an S10+ (which is the best phone I've ever had, hands down!), and have just discovered that it has FM radio receiver capability. Can anyone recommend a good app for this? I understand I need to use wired headphones for an antenna, which I'm ok with.

Samsung GT-E3210 SIM Lock ON (discuss.tchncs.de)

Dear Samsung

I have a Samsung GT-E3210 (semi-dumb phone) made about 2013.

I have had the phone since new.

It has a lock on it. I don't know how it got there. I don't even know what it is. I would like to remove it.

SUMMARY

  1. My SIM card works in other phones without a PIN.

  2. My phone works, with this SIM card, without a PIN.

  3. My phone will not accept another SIM card (even if the correct SIM PIN for that new SIM card is entered).

  4. When a new SIM card is inserted the phone says SIM LOCK and asks for a PASSWORD.

  5. With my usual SIM card inserted, SETTINGS shows SIM LOCK ON. If I select it, it asks for a SIM PASSWORD.

  6. With no SIM card in the phone, SETTINGS says SIM LOCK ON. If I select it, it asks me to INSERT SIM CARD.

ELABORATION

My GT-E3210 has worked for many years with the same old BIG SIM card in it.

I have never programmed a PIN into this old BIG SIM card. I have never used a PIN in connection with this old BIG SIM card.

The phone does not require a PIN when I turn it on each day, or when I re-insert this old BIG SIM card. I have never programmed any kind of security into the phone.

If any other SIM card is placed in it, however, it will not function.

When I tried a new SIM card, the following words filled the screen,

SIM LOCK

(a padlock symbol)

PASSWORD

(a space to enter password)

(and 2 options above the soft keys : CONFIRM and EMERGENCY)

When I entered the verified SIM PIN for this new SIM card it said,

INCORRECT PASSWORD

When I go to SETTINGS > SECURITY I see that one of the four LOCK's is on : SIM LOCK ON.

When I highlight SIM LOCK ON and press the centre button (with my usual old BIG SIM card in the phone) the following words fill the bottom half of the screen

SIM PASSWORD

8 DIGITS

PASSWORD

(a space to enter password)

(and 2 options above the soft keys : OK and CANCEL)

BUT, if there is no SIM card in the phone, when I highlight SIM LOCK ON and press the centre button, it says only

INSERT SIM CARD

TWO QUESTIONS please.

Q1. What is this SIM LOCK ?

Q2. What are my options to turn it off or remove it ?

I would be grateful for any help you could give me.

Yours sincerely ROMMMELLL

I'm looking for a polish or spray that buffs out or removes fine scratches for glass phone screen protectors, not plastic.

It doesn't work unless I download a third-party app which forces me to use Always on Display. I want it to blink at me whenever there is a new notification from any app. Importantly, I want it to show that my phone is charging. I don't want to use Always on Display because it defeats the purpose of the LED.

I've seen comments claiming most people would like to have a wider front screen, but I wonder if this is really the case, so thought I'd create a poll to get some actual numbers.

After a year, Samsung is finally using the temperature sensor in the Watch 5 series. 🤦‍♂️

I already know how to change icons on regular apps but since browser shortcuts (I'm using Internet from Samsung) on the home screen don't show as apps I'm at lost here, it is even possible or am I stuck with square icons while every other icon in my phone has rounded edges.

I have a family member who is currently selling the S22 Ultra for 500€ (just the phone). I'm currently rocking a Note 10 Lite with the latest One UI 5.1 and have no major complaints. Is this worth it tho? I've hear how "faulty" the S22 line is, specially the exynos variants.

Browsing new samsung health (6.24.1.031) on my phone and found that now you can create your own exercises. Which can be a generic one or a GPS based one.

So far a custom exersise cannot be transfered to s watch. I believe this comes with obeui 5 (for watches) soon.

Another strange limitation: for custom exersises I cannot set duration target less than 5 minutes. Why?

Juts installed new samsung health (6.24.1.031) on my phone. Two things I notices:

  1. Badges are redesigned and all previous badges are deprecated. Probably samsung will introduce dynamic badges?
  2. It looks like that for new badges it considers data since July only. I have days with 20000 steps for sure.
  3. After the update samsung health told me that last cloud sync was done on 01 Jan 1970. What is not true. To be on the safe side I triggered "sync now".

If samsung will introduce dynamic badges (like garmin) - it will be cool (global challenges become boring after a year or so). But if not.... it will be a step down.

Seems to be causing a weird bug when taking a selfie, where my face becomes flat like a pancake...

For tattooed users, some health functions would not be accurate. Good to see Samsung fixing this!
