Anna Louise Strong's travelogue to Tibet following the suppression of the Lamaist theocratic coup attempt in 1959. A better work on the material conditions of liberated Tibet than every single "Tibetology" slop pumped out by Western academia before or since. The Gelders also wrote a great book on Tibet, having visited in 1960 at Zhou Enlai's invitation.

  • Strong, Anna Louise. 1976. When the Serfs Stood Up in Tibet. Red Sun Publishers.

  • Gelder, Stuart and Gelder, Roma. 1964. The Timely Rain: Travels in New Tibet. Hutchinson & Co. Ltd.

This is a Western published book that talks in part about the British diplomatic schemes to carve out Tibet from the Republic of China prior to 1949.

  • Wang, Z. 2022. Sino-British Negotiations and the Search for a Post-War Settlement, 1942-1949: Treaties, Hong Kong, Tibet. De Gruyter.

These are books by the same author for an actual Chinese perspective on Tibet and how the CPC navigated through the ethnic conditions of Tibet following its liberation from theocratic serfdom.

  • Hao, Shiyuan. 2016. How the Communist Party of China Manages the Issue of Nationality: An Evolving Topic. Springer.

  • Hao, Shiyuan. 2020. China’s Solution to its Ethno-National Issues. Springer.

Chapter 9 ("Settler-Colonialism? A Comparative Analysis") of Kyle Ferrana's fantastic book published last year addresses the Western propaganda points about Tibet in conjunction with Xinjiang.

  • Ferrara, K. 2024. Why the World Needs China: Development, Environmentalism, Conflict Resolution & Common Prosperity. Clarity Press.

All these books can either be found on Libgen or Z-Library.
