I was pretty into flying back when whoops were new but stopped for financial reasons. Recently, friend got his license and I caught the bug again watching his videos.

Got this Mobula7 and have been having a blast. My old box headset has an awful receiver but I got a crazy deal on some Fat Sharks that should be here soon.

I also just moved to a place much better for flying - I can fly to a park without passing any private property.

I've been binging Joshua Bardwell's videos and, of course, already thinking about what I want to buy next. Thinking about a monitor or a second cheap headset for other people to watch.

I haven't geeked out this much on a new (or rediscovered) hobby in awhile and instead of spamming my friend, I decided to post here and maybe get this community going.

Anyone else on Lemmy into quadcopters/FPV?

Hell yeah. Mob7 was my first but I've moved mostly over to HDZ. Unfortunately the drone laws in my area are harsh, vague, and untested, so most of my flying lately has been in simulators.

Can you speak on the durability of HDZ? It's what I was leaning toward with digital but I read in a few places that the wires were fragile and I got scared lol

Haven't broken anything yet, but also haven't tried hard enough lol. I wouldn't say its more fragile than the rest. Fixing stuff just to break it again is part of the hobby after all :)

I will say the analog module for my HDZ headset is very fragile with I didn't expect. If you order anything direct from HDZ, put it through a stress test in the first ~2 weeks to weed out any issues.
