Your average retail employee is not paid enough to give a shit. Just follow two simple rules: Don't let management catch you, and don't leave trash out. Those things end up making it our problem.

Can also be worth asking if there's an unadvertised sample program. Like at my bakery, we have an option to buy cookies by the pound. I'm not supposed to bring up samples to customers, and they're mainly supposed to be limited to kids, but if anyone asks me? Fuck yeah, which flavor you want? They're mostly going to get tossed out anyway.

I always operated under a, "dont make it my problem" mentality. So yea, dont leave your trash behind. Be discrete with the shoplifting. If you decide you dont want something in your cart, but dont wanna put it back, just bring it to the register and tell us you dont want it anymore. Easier for us then sticking it in the wrong space.

Wish Ida been allowed to hand out free samples. That woulda been fun as hell at yhe liqour store.

I've been to several liquor stores offering half shot samples.

Im guessing they are in a different state than I am.

I should have clarified. I've been to liquor stores in several states doing it. Even my shitty conservative home state. I'm surprised they allow it but whatevs.

Im in one of (iirc) only two states where all liquor sales, outside of served to drink at bars/resturants, are sold through the state. Free samples are tightly controlled, only at certain locations and with all sorts of rules. Im not doubting you, dont get me wrong.
