carnists will get defensive and even hostile regardless of how polite you are to them (there are studies backing this up), so even ignoring the inherent speciesism of the premise, this shit just doesn't work.

Shaming often works actually.
Increase all avenues of advocacy. They all basically work, some are better for certain people than others.
If someone is "put off of" veganism because one vegan was rude to them, I very much doubt they were seriously considering it anyway

I mean, I went vegan by looking at memes from vegancirclejerk making fun of vegetarians and I had no leg to stand on.
