Something something pattern of behaviour...

What's incredible is that this alleged rape happened during the Brittney Higgins court proceedings

Why does he always carry around this "high profile man" thing? He's nobody AFAIK. Last time it was something about "young gun tapped for greatness" or some nonsense. He's at best an amateurish Daryl Summers hopeful.

Is he well connected or something? Maybe friends in high places, or well connected parents?

[-] roo@lemmy.one 4 points 1 year ago

No idea, but the media doesn't seem to get he's just a predator seeking dominance over anything and everything possible.

[-] vividspecter@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

I presume it's just what they can say legally. And he is well known, just not for anything good.

[-] shatterling@lemm.ee 15 points 1 year ago

Holy shit, no wonder he tried to suppress that info, that puts another huge spin on his story. I wonder if any cozy mates are going to help him with this one too

[-] aeternum@kbin.social 9 points 1 year ago

I think they'll cut him loose. He's a dead weight.

[-] aeternum@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago

wait, what? he was charged in a different rape?

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 15 points 1 year ago

This is why "High profile" doesn't necessarily mean celebrity. And yeah - this is a different case to the one from last year. He didn't think he'd get a fair trial if everyone knew he was accused again.

To think this guy dreamed of a career in politics a couple of years ago. I can't see him getting elected, now.

Christian Porter has entered the chat

Unless an Aussie can run for US President?

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Nope. You need to be a "Naturally born US citizen". They're quite explicit about it and very serious. That's why there was all that silly noise about President Obama's birth certificate. Ironically championed by the guy who would succeed him as President.

He could go as high as a State Govenor, though.

[-] Deceptichum@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

what about a US-sie?

A second alleged sexual harassment/assault? But wait, there's more!

SMH article from Dec 22 (archive):

"It can now be revealed that Lehrmann was accused of sexually harassing or assaulting other women in articles that have since been deleted, after a suppression order was lifted on Friday afternoon."

Judge said: “The most damaging material, in my view, is the material disclosing that other women had come forward with similar complaints after hearing the complainant’s (Brittney Higgins) allegations.”

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck …

Yikes, hope we get an actual result this time around.
