Emerging from oppression, it reflected resilience & creativity, becoming anthems for civil rights movements the world over. Historians divide the Great Migration into 2 distinct periods:1910-1940 & 1940-1970, reflecting the changing dynamics of the migration waves during different time periods. Both had profound impact on society & culture.
