After a dominant win over a game opponent in ergashev in a performance that many would consider a mauling, what is the ceiling for Subriel?

I’m judging it based off of the fighters accomplishments in the division and not what they did outside of it.

I’d say the front runners have to be Joe Calzaghe and Andre Ward. They are the only ones who spent the majority of their career there, cleared out the division, and retired undefeated. You also got Canelo, and young James Toney and Roy Jones Jr.

It may be unpopular but I don’t rank Roy Jones Jr #1 at 168 since he’s only got 13 fights in the division although he’s clearly greater overall then everyone else.

In my opinion it’s Andre Ward. Winning the Super Six tournament is probably the most impressive accomplishment in the divisions history.

EDIT: I took GGG off I forgot he was only a mw

After watching some videos recommended by YouTube of David “The Mexican Monster” Benavidez and Naoya “The Monster” Inoue.

I realized there’s some sinister stories of real “Monsters” in the history of boxing and thought of Edwin Valero who committed suicide after murdering his wife. Valero was hospitalized for six months for psychiatric rehabilitation in March 2010, after suspicion of viciously assaulting his wife.

I think of Sam Kellerman, Max Kellerman’s brother being murdered by boxer James Butler.

In 1954, Don King, was charged with killing a man, for attempting to rob one of his gambling houses, and was acquitted after the incident was ruled justifiable homicide. In 1967, Don King was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, after stomping one of employees to death. Don King committed 2 murders, 13 years apart, and undoubtedly probably committed several more, since in this era, there was no surveillance cameras, or cellphones. In 1992, during a senate investigation into organized crime, King Invoked his Fifth Amendment, when questioned about his connection to mobster John Gotti.

I’m interested in hearing you guys thoughts and opinions, on real life boxing monsters, that might be unknown by the general public.

Vitali Kiltschko is my second favorite all time great champion that I have actually seen fight live since I started been watching boxing in 80's during Holmes reign as champion. I would just like to have a discussion on did you enjoy and appreciate Vitali as a fighter and where you rate and rank him all time in a mythical head to head heavyweight tournament.

With the prospect of a blockbuster showdown between these two giants looming, I find myself thinking about the strategies they would need to employ to get that win. This fight promises not just a test of skill and huevos but a chess match of tactical brilliance and adaptation in the ring. Both men may need to dig deep to secure the victory or perhaps even make it to the final bell.

In terms of experience, Canelo holds a distinct advantage. His remarkable journey through the boxing world, featuring encounters with iconic figures like Mayweather, Cotto, Golovkin, Bivol, and Jacobs, solidifies his position as the most battle-hardened and tactically astute fighter active today. Meanwhile, Benavidez, despite his impressive early exposure to top-tier sparring partners like Pavlik, Golovkin, and Bivol since the tender age of fifteen, has not yet amassed a comparable level of in-ring experience with such a diverse array of elite competitors.

Despite this, Benavidez’s exceptional talent is undeniable. He is at the peak of his physical prowess, boasting remarkable stamina and a relentless seek-and-destroy style that would make a T-1000 envious. The man’s a monster. At just twenty-six, the sky is truly the limit for David Benavidez. In contrast, Canelo, with over sixty fights under his belt at the age of thirty-three, is possibly approaching the twilight of his career. Although he has been involved in relatively few wars and has seldom been significantly hurt, the cumulative effect of years of rigorous training camps and sparring sessions might be starting to take its toll.

Both fighters need a solid game plan to defeat the other. What would such a plan look like?

Canelo | The Body

The red-headed Mexican needs to start landing body shots on the Monster as soon as that bell sounds. David squares his shoulders, exposing his stomach. Canelo must capitalize on this by jabbing at the stomach to halt David’s momentum, then follow up with powerful shots to inflict damage and establish dominance. Targeting the body is crucial. If Canelo fails to slow David down, the stamina issues that have occasionally marred his performances might become glaringly evident in their fight. Being short of breath in the ring with David Benavidez is a situation best avoided. If Canelo can slow David down, I expect him to win handily.

Benavidez | Intelligent Pressure

David will need to be mindful of his footwork and defensively responsible, as Canelo has broken motherfuckers’ bones in the ring due to his hard-hitting style. Benavidez should use his long jab to set up power shots, aiming to hurt Canelo and pressure him until his stamina wanes. If successful, he could become the first man to stop Álvarez. David’s hunger, youth, and aggression are key factors. Defeating Canelo would not only elevate him to superstardom but also secure big-money fights in the future.

This fight needs to happen next year; we all want to see it. I don’t even care about the overall state of boxing – this fight needs to happen for its own sake.

Thoughts, comments?

Biggest boxing what if’s?

What if Cuban amateur and boxing legend Félix Savón turned professional? He became three-time Olympic gold medalist, and the world champion six times in a row. He knocked out David Tua, who has arguably one of the greatest chins in boxing history (He was 18 but still). He was so loyal to Cuba, that he was offered the opportunity to defect from Cuba permanently, to fight Mike Tyson as a professional, which would’ve earned him 20 million dollars, by Don King. He is the only boxer to win three gold medals, alongside Hungarian László Papp, and fellow Cuban legend Teófilo Stevenson. Stylistically, he was a technically skilled Deontay Wilder, who both stand a 6’5, with wiry frames and phenomenal punching power.

What are your biggest boxing what if’s, and your thoughts and opinions?
