i just learned how to crochet and made these lil guys because the plastic/vinyl/whatever stuff on them was cracking and falling off. they're held taut by a drawstring which i just noticed is perfectly hidden by the angle of this picture, but i just used some extra yarn and tied it like shoelaces.

really simple and easy as a first project! i'm not sure if it is visible in the picture but i made the blue one second and i think it came out much better.

i got the idea from this video and used it as a general reference.

Playing around with a practice bag and found a cool strap that I thought should be shared. :-) Sorry the picture is sort of washed out, hope you can still see the fun detail on the strap. Took me some time and struggled with choosing the right colors at first, but I'm super happy with how it turned out!

I used this pattern from etsy!

I had the idea a while back that making a crochet nudibranch with a frilled edge would be lots of fun. And I was thinking of making a scarf. So I made a nudibranch scarf.

Hi there! I hope it's ok to ask this here. I've been wanting to crochet an almost floor length cardigan, so I would need a lot of yarn. The pattern said they used a Level 4/Worsted weight yarn and had a gauge of 8 stitches and 6 rows on 4"x4". Now, I can't really find out what equals as worsted weight yarn here in Europe, and the ones I found all feel too thin to achieve that gauge. I've been to a local store where they recommended some cotton yarn and wool to me that should be equal to worsted weight. Now the thing is, they are quite expensive and I still can't get close to that gauge, meaning I would need even more. However, what I found of WW yarn, they all seem to be acrylic and honestly not much cheaper.

So I'm currently a little stumped, am I looking for the wrong things or do I have to face the fact that this cardigan would cost me about 180€ of yarn?

Pattern

First thing I've crocheted in at least 3 years. Carpal tunnel is a bitch. My brother wanted some beanies he could wear in summer and picked this one out. You can't really see the pattern in the brim, but you can't see all the mistakes either, so it's a wash. :)

I made this some years ago for my niece who I think was around 6 years old at the time. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Sorry, I don't remember what pattern I used. I stuffed it with old socks and T-shirts that I cut into pieces.

A really cool piece of fiber art - and it can be yours for the modest price of $10k! I'm glad to see a fellow fiber artist doing so well and making amazing art!

Yes he's lumpy, yes his paws are mismatched, but it's my very first completed amigurumi and I'm proud of my little boy :)

Is the border substantial enough? Or should I add more?

I didn't know there was a crochet community, how exciting! I just started in December, with quite a bit of (helpful) criticisms from my mom!

I actually made this for work if you can believe it. My boss paid for the pattern and yarn. It's for some team building we are doing this week.

This pattern is from a book called "zoomigurumi 3". I adjusted the shell pattern, switching colours between each round, to get this spiral effect.

The book is really nice, well written. I've made a couple of other pattern from it and enjoyed each one!

Here we go with another round of crochet foods for my sister's kids. They got cookies, cakes and treats last winter. They loved those but asked for "healthy food" as well to round out their roleplaying games.

I'm afraid I can't share some of these patterns as they were not free... I can share were I purchased them from tho!

In reference to the last post on temperature blankets. This is my temperature blanket for the year 2022. I didn't want it to be a giant blanket so what I did was took the average temperature over two days for each row. It ended up being a bit smaller than a throw blanket. It's also evident that my tension got looser over time which made it come out pretty wonky. Overall I think it turned out pretty nice!

My partner and I finally have all of our planning ironed out and did the math so we could get all of the yarn we needed while most of it was over 50% off, so stoked to get started on this journey!

I felt I should update you guys after your suggestions and support from my other post.

I was concerned about the finishing of my blanket, it wasn't a regular shape, but a session of carefull (nail biting level stress) steam blocking straightened her out!

Here she is, rectangular and perfect for a nice bed spread. My godchild will get it coming Christmas, wrapped under the tree with a nice bow.

Thanks everybody for your encouragement and support in my first ever blocking adventure! You are very kind people and I appreciate you!

Hello crochet friends!

I'm almost done making blanket, but as I lay it out to admire my work... Horror strikes! It looks like my tension became looser as time passed...

I've never made a blanket before, and have read that blocking is a standard step to even out ones work. But... This looks really bad. The bottom right corner is 10cm longer than the top right.

Will blocking save my work and allow me to shape it into a rectangle?

What are you currently working on? Any Christmas presents for someone else or yourself? Or are you planning your next projects?

Currently I’m working on 4 projects (all for myself):

  1. The “Lattice Love Beanie” by hear hook home with a gorgeous yarn I found at a yarn fair. It’s so soft and I love how it works up. I’m just afraid that I don’t have enough yarn.

  2. The Rancher Shawl by TL Yarncrafts. Also with yarn I you at a fair, and I’m finally making some progress on it. It’s probably going to be the project I’ll take with me to entertain me during Christmas travels.

  3. Moroccan Tea Blanket. I love the shawls, and I now I now started this blanket. It’s probably going to be my 2024 project.

  4. Socks. I am so over knitting this pair of socks. I want to be a sock knitter, but I’m not. Working 9 months now on this pair, and my 2nd sock is about 1/4 done…
