tl;dw With the new Minecraft update, there have been mods added to popular collections, in mod managers like Curseforge, that contain a virus.

This virus can collect any .jar files on your computer, which contains a multitude of sensitive information based on your internet browsing. Bank credentials, SSN, etc.

Note that this software only exists on windows installs, and it appears that the firmware update software was vulnerable to MITM attacks, meaning it could be tricked into installing malware.
