At one point in this weird nonsensical abortion they call life, I had a 64 Ford Econoline. It was the model that had 360 windows (the 8 door model). It was the most fun touring vehicle I've ever been in. Granted it only did 55 with the pedal to the metal (quite literally floored). The best vehicle I've ever owned. So great for doing back roads in. You could see EVERYTHING.

So the Canoo is going to have a 360 view and a full roof moon roof? Consider me sold for island driving. Come out and see me bruh you gonna get a tour of the island.

So has anyone bought a like.. gen 0 vehicle before? I've never owned a new car. And never from ab untested manufacturer. I'm just lucky to have this chanc.

Like, I expect deliveries to start in the next few months and I'm trying to set expectations for myself. Has any one here preordered an EV? Is this a mistake? Should I just get another leaf?

GM decided it would be best to remove its oh-so-popular Chevy Bolt from production and to focus instead on its Silverado EV and Equinox EV. For a variety of reasons, including loyal customer outcry, that may not have been the best GM corporate decision ever. However, for anyone now looking to purchase a used Chevy Bolt, the time is ideal to do so.

A used Chevy Bolt is a good vehicle to drive because of its reasonable purchase price, dependable battery-electric drivetrain, battery warranty, perfectly acceptable range, and comfortable styling.

Last August, Indian mobility company Ola Electric announced its upcoming lineup of full-size electric motorcycles. The firm has now provided specs for one family of the bikes, the Roadsters, which boast a range of up to 579 km (360 miles) and a top speed of 194 km/h (121 mph).

There are three basic models of the Roadster – the standard Roadster, the Roadster X and the Roadster Pro. Just to complicate matters, there are also three versions of the standard Roadster, taking their names from the capacity of their batteries in kilowatt-hours: the 3.5, 4.5 and 6. There are also three versions/battery capacities of the Roadster X, namely the 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5.

Should you happen to live in Ola's Asian marketplace and be wanting an electric motorcycle, pricing for the standard Roadster starts at 104,999 rupees (about US$1,250), with the Roadster X dropping down to 74,999 rupees ($893) and the Roadster Pro climbing back up to a still-reasonable 250,000 rupees ($2,977).

I know — there are more Chinese EV startups than days in the month. It’s definitely hard to get a good vision of the Chinese market, even with Jose Pontes’ superb monthly China EV sales reports, but there are a handful of these Chinese EV companies that are really working to make their mark globally, and it’s particularly fun to track their progress. Zeekr has quickly risen up the food chain and into that world, as well as BYD (which you can’t call a startup, of course, but leads the market), NIO, and Xpeng.

The latest news from Zeekr is that it has reached 300,000 sales worldwide. That’s quite an achievement, and I expect it will double that figure in the next couple of years. It only took the company 33 months (fewer than 3 years) to reach this milestone after delivering its first vehicle. Zeekr says it achieved this 300,000 cumulative sales total on August 1.

It's a brutal time to sell and a helluva time to buy. The used EV market is in freefall, and it's current owners that are holding the bag. But if you've been looking for the time to get into a modern, long-range EV, it may be now.

New data from Edmunds shows that EV values have fallen 20.5% year over year. That's a seismic shift. The overall used car market, for reference, has cooled by 6.8% over the same time period. That's a big swing for the market as a whole, but the EV swing is gargantuan. Compared to average used vehicle values during the second quarter of 2022, EV values in Q2 2024 are down a whopping 38.5%.

Tesla notoriously doesn’t offer many, if any, interior options other than a black or white interior.

That’s why many were surprised to be presented with a new Model 3 interior if they chose the Model 3 Standard Range Rear-Wheel-Drive in the configurator in Mexico today.

When ordering this trim, which is the cheapest option, they don’t have an interior option between black and white anymore. Instead, they are presented with a new interior with textile seats rather than vegan leather:

This week, Business Insider took a look at those claims. In its analysis, Musk has been weighed in the balance and found wanting. The Cybertruck for sale right now has less range and a far higher price tag than Musk initially predicted, with the cheapest model currently available costing nearly $100,000. Here’s what it found when it looked at some of Musk’s claims about the Cybertruck.

$39,900 Price Tag

When Musk first unveiled the Cybertruck in 2019, he said the cheapest version would cost $39,900, with more advanced variants costing $49,900 and $69,900. Then, in 2023, Tesla said its cheapest model would actually cost $60,990 and would arrive in 2025. This month, Tesla quietly hiked the price of the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version of the Cybertruck to just under $100,000 and removed the option to pre-order the less expensive single-motor rear-wheel-drive version. It is now unclear what Tesla’s plans are for the single-motor model.

Tesla sells the most EVs, but if you don’t think it sells the best EVs, here are some alternative models that you could choose instead.

Tesla doesn’t have as big a lead over its competitors as it once did. Although its EVs are still among the best, competing automakers have caught up and have even surpassed Tesla in some areas.

Starting at $46,340, the Solterra’s starting price is already under the average transaction price (ATP) for a new vehicle in the US. According to Kelley Blue Book, the ATP for new vehicles in the US was $48,401, down 3.1% from their peak in December 2022 ($49,929).

After introducing drastic new incentives, Subaru’s Solterra is now the most discounted car on the US market. And yes, that includes gas-powered cars.

According to new Consumer Reports data, Subaru’s EV tops the list, with Solterra models selling for 12% off MSRP. That would mean buyers are getting Solterra’s for around $40,800. That’s over $5,500 in savings.

The study looked at recent transaction data from TrueCar to find where buyers are scoring the biggest savings. Each of the top ten models is selling well below its stick price, at under $50,000.

“Manufacturing Polestar 3 in the USA is a crucial step for us,” Ingenlath said at the event. “Now we offer customers in America an electric SUV that is built in America.”

The Polestar 3 is the brand’s first EV built on two continents. After production kicked off in China in April, Polestar’s electric SUV is now being made in the US. Polestar plans to export Polestar 3 models to Europe, which will “strengthen our business on a broader scope,” according to Ingenlath.

Polestar calls its new model “The performance SUV for the electric age.” The electric SUV fuses its signature Scandinavian design with advanced software and powertrain tech.

Starting at $73,400 in the US, the Polestar 3 gets up to 315 miles EPA-est range. It can also fast charge (10% to 80%) in 30 mins to get you back on the road quickly.

Rivian's early investment from Amazon was a crucial part of its early days. Starting a car company is extraordinarily expensive, and Amazon had the coffers to help make it happen. But the e-commerce giant wanted something in return: An all-electric delivery van for its fleet. The Electric Delivery Van (EDV) may seem like a weird product for a premium, adventure-focused company. But according to a driver review, it turned out great.

"I want to give you my honest opinion," YouTuber and Amazon driver Chris Sing says in his latest video. "This thing's awesome."

Washington, DC — Today, as a part of the 2nd anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, nearly 350 Climate Mayors announced a commitment to electrify at least 50% of municipal fleets by 2030 while increasing electric vehicle (EV) chargers by at least 500%, with at least 40% of the charging infrastructure benefitting disadvantaged communities. This collective effort is a pivotal move to meet the Biden-Harris Administration’s goal to make 50% of all new vehicle sales electric by 2030. Sending a major market signal to auto and light duty truck manufacturers, the commitment comes on the 10-year anniversary of Climate Mayors, which was first launched in 2014 by three U.S. mayors coming together to galvanize local leaders to act together on climate change. With today’s commitment, the mayors pledged to bring cleaner air and green jobs to their cities by supporting the growth of EVs, investing in infrastructure, increasing public charging stations, and accelerating fleet electrification.
