yo idk if this is the right place to put this, so sorry if it's not. Iv been really trying to figure this place out and honestly it feels like they made things overly complicated. I understand the magazines and the federated stuff I guess, maybe. But what the hell is the difference between posts and threads. Also I have noticed that sometimes I go into a magazine that says it has posts and threads and there is nothing there. Just need a little help. I don't want to go back to reddit.

Is there any way to make kbin play nice when going back after viewing a post on infinite scroll? It's very frustrating to use after the first "page" as the browser gets stuck at the bottom of the first page and needs to be scrolled all the way down back to wherever you were.

Is there any way to block an entire instance, instead of just individual communities one at a time? My feed has a ton of stuff from feddit.de, I don't speak the language.

Especially when you don't want them

So when I come to Kbin, the default view (All) seems to be posts to articles across all magazines and communities from federated instances. Seems straightforward enough. When I click to view "Moderated" nothing shows up, which makes sense since I'm not moderating any magazines. However, when I click to view "Subscribed" I see different content from "All" but most of it is from magazines that I am not subscribed to. Is this a glitch, or am I misunderstanding something? How would I go about viewing only content from the magazines I've subscribed to?

I have no issue with All being the default, especially with Kbin being so new. I like being exposed to new magazines and communities, but I'd like to explore the ones I've joined and work to build them up. Thoughts?

I've been on kbin for a couple of weeks now and made a few comments. I'm interested in sprucing up my profile though and adding an avatar. But for the life of me, I can't see how to do that on my profile page. Can anyone point this dumb bunny to the right spot?

I also have no idea how to submit a post. I'm writing this one, but it feels more like a comment because there's no place for me to put a title.

I feel like the whole kbin UI is very convoluted. It's hard to find a view that shows only posts from my subscribed subs. The create post button is super far away from the actual sub. What even is a Microblog? Or why is there a people tap? Who actually cares about following someone and stuff? Am I posting a post or a microblog thing right now? Why can't I enter a title? If it's not a post, where do I find the posting option?

I really want this to be awesome and a good Reddit replacement, but I feel everything is way too hidden and convoluted right now...

When adding a link to #Kbin 's magazine as a thread, title and abstract forms would be filled with that of source article.
I missed that the abstract contains "I" which means author of the article and I left it as it is.
Strictly, I should have changed it to "author" instead of "I".

I had been using an account on kbin.social without any problems. Then I changed the email address associated with it to a newly-created alias. I did not realize until too late that the alias was not actually valid yet when I made the change.

kbin logged me out. When I try to login I get the message "Your account is not active." I've tried multiple login and triple-checked the password, but I get the same message every time.

I asked to reset my password. I got the reset email, clicked on the link, changed the password, and it all seemed to work. But I still get the same message when I try to login.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I don't want to lose the account.

Why do the thumbnails, and my profile image, appear as 'squashed'?

It's not only my account, but also others.

I changed my image to a perfectly square image, thinking that may help, but it still looks the same - squashed!

Hi,

As of right now, the site is pretty much entirely inaccessible for blind users on macOS. The reason for this is that the VoiceOver cursor has an unfortunate habit of jumping around all over the place, often miles away from where it aught to be. For example, if I try and look at my notifications, I often get jumped to the footer, or to the profile of the person whose comment I’m reading, or really anywhere else. This happens occasionally on iOS as well, though not nearly as frequently, for example I occasionally find myself clicking on the skip to content link when attempting to open a text field.

Apologies if I’m not explaining any of this clearly, it’s quite hard to describe to someone without much screen reader experience.

On the list of Magazines at the top of the screen is an option for Favourites - I cannot figure out how to add Magazines to this list, does anyone know?

Lemmy have fixed this problem in the latest developer build, might be in stable by now. They replaced the buttons with toggles which screen readers can recognise. Kbin’s accessibility is top notch aside from this one problem, so chears for that. :)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a way to block a magazine from showing up on one's front page?

The title. How often do you turn off federation and only scroll through kbin threads and magazines?

I'm quite concerned by the huge increase of seemingly bots on some Lemmy instances. Dvmsocial and beehaw defederated from some. What about bin? How to protect ourselves from the bot swarm that's coming?

A Lemmy guy created a script that can auto defederate from these unprotected instances. Maybe it is the short term solution :

I can't seem to find how to filter languages and I keep getting German posts. Is language filters a thing in KBin?

I'm a bit confused at the explosive growth of Lemmy and the slower growth of Kbin. Do the stats reflect the reality or is there a problem with the data being fed back to the various stat hubs?

I know the difference is partly because Lemmy was a larger platform, and is better known but the growth of Kbin seems suprisingly flat while the community seems to be getting more and more active?

Title. Also, and I know I’m not the first to point this out, but wow Kbin’s names for things are weird. Took me awhile to figure out the difference between posts and articles. Also, anyone know what the OC checkbox does?

Decided that I, too, will throw my hat in the ring with an attempt at a mobile app for kbin. No guarantees since the cobwebs are pretty thick in the iOS side of the house, but... yeah. Apollo was an amazing experience for reddit and the current on is a dumpster fire. kbin looks like the successor the free internet needs.

Are there any issues with snagging content from reddit to post in to the equivalent kbin magazine, especially for those magazines that need a bit of a kick start for threads?

For example, SelfawareWolves or similar magazines that are mostly empty at the moment. Would it be against any rules to grab the images from there and create a new post here for them?
